Walking Tall
Overview
Many music lovers say, “They don’t make ’em like that anymore!”—but Northern California’s Walking Tall proves sometimes they do. With an original mix of Rock, Classic Rock, and Country Rock, their sound is relatable, melodic, and often compared to These Days-era Bon Jovi and the Eagles. The band centers on Bret Santti and James Tuttle—both lead vocalists, songwriters, and multi-instrumentalists—joined on record by Seth Rausch (Don Felder Band, drums), Mike Walter (harmonies), and special guests. Live, a versatile backing band gives Bret and James freedom to swap instruments seamlessly.

About
Bio
(phone number hidden)6
Talk about a story to tell.
Bret Santti and James Tuttle met around age 17, then each set off on their own musical paths—
playing, writing, and fronting bands for decades. Both wrote original songs from the start,
learned the business, mastered multiple instruments, and rejected trends to follow their own
vision. What they shared was an unmatched drive and relentless determination.
After years of hard work, sacrifice, and near-breakthroughs—while watching others fall away—
they remained standing. Still driven, still faithful. Ironically, they ended up where they started:
face to face, ready to begin again.
Each brought a finished, unreleased album to the table. In 2014, they launched Walking Tall,
named after James’ former band—a motto that fit their grit and mindset: "Hold your head high
and walk tall. Never give up, never give in. Be relentless."
That summer, they released Walking Tall Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 just months apart. Volume 1
spotlighted James' vocals, songwriting, and musicianship; Volume 2 highlighted Bret's. These
releases gave them fresh material while bridging the past and setting the tone for future
collaborations.
Then came 2019 and COVID.
Their first true collaborative album, Walking Tall - Life Happens Here, was written, rewritten,
demoed, and recorded with patience and purpose. They found their sound naturally. Along the
way, they signed with top Nashville music attorney Orville Almon and worked with various
managers and booking agents.
Just as the album and tour were ready, COVID hit. The tour collapsed, the album stalled, and
Orville Almon passed away. A record deal offer from Sony followed—but they turned it down.
Still, Life Happens Here earned industry praise, drawing comparisons to a “modern-day Eagles.”
October 2024:
In just one month, Bret and James wrote 60 new songs. They chose 16, demoed them, revised
them, and began recording. To their surprise, top Nashville musicians wanted in. One referral led
to another, and soon they were recording with some of the most in-demand Grammy-, Emmy-,
and Multi-Platinum-winning players, both live and on record, in country music. Seth Rausch,
John Thomasson, Ben Helson, Dan Hochhalter, Brandon Bankes and others.
With the Eagles comparisons in mind, Bret and James leaned into their country-rock roots,
embracing instruments they once held back from using. The result: an authentic sound they made
born to make. Real musicians. Real instruments. No AI. No Auto-Tune. No samples. Just
heartfelt, universally relatable songs.
Next, by way of their own label Diganetic Records, they signed a distribution deal with Empire Distribution.
On June 27th, the first single 'Alive', from their forthcoming album was released.
Coming July 25th, 2025:
New album: Walking Tall - No Known Destination
Produced by Bret Santti and James Tuttle. Mixed by Bret Santti.
A redefining of Country Rock for a new era!
New tour: Walking Tall - All Known Destinations Tour 2025/2026
