About
Founded in 2015, Upper Structure is a co-ed a cappella group at Berklee College of Music. From humble beginnings, the group quickly rose to national recognition, placing second at ICCA Finals in 2018 and 2021 and third in 2024, as well as taking home special awards for Best Choreography, Best Vocal Percussion, and Best Arrangement. In 2020, Upper Structure was named champion of the Los Angeles A Cappella festival. Upon the festival’s post-Covid return in 2023, Upper Structure returned to defend their status as reigning champion. They won first place while also taking home special awards for outstanding arrangement, movement, and best rhythm section for their entire set. Most recently, they released their EP LAAF 2023, which won the 2024 CARA Award for the song “Salvation.” With each iteration, their members have continued to bring an emotional, empowering, and innovative perspective to every performance. Upper Structure’s purpose is to make music with meaning and to create something bigger than themselves.
