"He's really smart, in a goofy , weird, fun sorta way."
And why shouldn't he be? Do you know how many people Ty The Art Guy has drawn in his life? Who wants to do the math?
Getting paid to draw smiles since he was a kid. He can draw about 15 people an hour on a lifetime average. He's draws about thirty hours a week at Disney alone. Now he's not busy every hour, so to be fair, say he only draws four an hour. There's that number of people a week, for at least one year.
Now, imagine if every year he's been drawing was half that? What's that estimated amount of people Ty has drawn? And remember, we cut some general variables and left out all the trade shows, conventions, festivals and celebrations.
Ty gets those few valuable minutes with each person and learns something with every smile. Everyone has a story and we can all learn something from one another. Everyone is different. Ty could draw you three times in one event and it would be different every time. The quick sketch is a split second interpretation, shooting from the hip, if you will.... Even twins look different in caricature. If everything works out in that quick sketch, Ty will capture something special that not everyone can see. The magic of the caricature. He puts a little personality into the drawing, and it's always determined by the conversation during the drawing.
When Ty The Art Guy gets to talk about drawing smiles for a living, he gets very passionate. Passionate about his beliefs. Passionate about the fact that humanity is instinctively creative. It is one of the primary human survival instincts. Something he loves to share. Ty will show you just a few of the infinite possibilities of creative avenues to explore on your own.
Ty The Art Guy is a life-long artist. He grew up a semi sickly kid with Asthma and had plenty of time drawing to fend off boredom. He was his own Internet. Sad, huh? Not at all. This just means he has been drawing all his life. That experience then, made him who he is today. He was the dorky kid who painted football backdrops, pep rally signs, he made C’s in Art. Mrs. White hated the way he drew. “Why must you draw funny?” she would ask him while he was writing a hundred sentences on the black board. “I dunno, I laugh therefore I do.” (More sentences)
Since drawing at Six Flags as a kid, studied at East Texas State, AIH,and U of H. During college he travelled the country drawing smiles at Fairs and Festivals across the northwest. He lived a wonderful advertising career as a Creative Director, Designer, Illustrator in Advertising for over 30 years. He’s been drawing smiles from around the world since he was a caricaturist at Six Flags Over Texas.

Need electricity for evening and indoor events. Water or tea available. Two chairs.
I'll draw anyone at the event as long as the time contracted allows.
Caricaturist throughout history. Mad magazine. Toulouse Lautrec. Peter Max. Jasper Johns. Andy Warhol. Ralph Steadman. I could go on and on, but it would get boring.
