Tommy Stewart grew up in Lake Wales, Florida, and began his stand-up comedy career at a bar called the Phun Shack while attending the University of Central Florida in Orlando. The idea of doing stand-up began with a course in societal humor at UCF where Tommy's comedy monologue earned him an “A” in the class and ended with a humorous “special comment” he wrote in a television performance course. A classmate suggested it was so funny that he could do stand-up comedy. The seed was planted.
After graduation, he worked the Central Florida comedy club circuit including Bonkerz, The Comedy Zone and Walt Disney Resort and is a 2-time finalist in the Orlando FunnyEola Comedy Competition. He is an accomplished actor, playing the lead character of Mike in the drama Drinkin’ Buddies and James Markham in the ensemble play 33rd, both at Orlando’s Theatre Downtown. He has appeared in a variety of television and film projects in the Sunshine State.
Tommy would later migrate to the Los Angeles area after a four year stint in the United States Army. There he'd receive his M.F.A. in Screenwriting at Loyola Marymount University. He also appeared as a stand-up comedian in major venues like The Ice Palace and the The World Famous Improv, among others.
Tommy then brought his humor to Manhattan where he completed the One Year Program at New York City's American Comedy Institute, studying Acting, Improvisation, Comedy/Sketch Writing as well as continuing to do stand-up. He has performed at Gotham Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club and Comix in New York. He's also appeared at The Stress Factory in New Jersey and Philadelphia's Comedy Cabaret.
