My passion started with my first male teacher who was bigger than life. He had been in the army stationed in Turkey and had the responsibility of gathering military intelligence. He had passion for everything he did in life; it was contagious and I caught it. When I grew up I wanted to be just like him.
After graduating high school in 1972, I joined the US Navy. After going to school for aviation electronics I was attached to VR 21 squadron in Barbers Point, HI. I became bored and needed a challenge. I ran, lifted weights and swam every night after work to prepare myself for one of the hardest schools in the world; Basic Underwater Demolition School (BUDS).
