I have drawn entertaining caricatures in the greater Chicagoland Area, surrounding suburbs, & parts of Indiana for over 30 years. I have a Degree in Graphic Design, & have taught the Art of Caricature at Moraine Valley College. I can draw caricatures for any party, or event that enjoys a good laugh, and what a great rememberance for any occasion. It's the gift that keeps on giving. I love this art style because of the immediate SMILES it produces when clients, guests, & family receive their caricatures. Tom was apart of our sons 8th grade graduation party. Tom was great with all the kids ranging in ages from 2-15 and ofcourse adults. Tom was very personable and the artistry was amazing.
Everyone really enjoyed Tom and his art work, it was a great touch to a graduation party and we will definetly be contacting Tom again for future events.

Thank you for the review Karla. I had a lot of fun with your fellow employees, and their guests. I wanted to let you know that I wasn't worried about leaving the party. The other artist and I started packing up because we were scheduled to 8:30 pm per our contract through Gig Salad. You asked us if we could stay another hour , and we both agreed. I charged you an extra $200 for the additional hour, because that's what I was charging you for the party. $200 an hour is what we agreed on in our Gig Salad Agreement. I explained that to you before drawing the extra hour also , and you agreed to keep us both longer. The reason I charged more than my normal hourly rate, is because of the party locale, which was a 4 hour round trip drive, so at times I charge more because of the travel time involved, and the time of year. The price, and times are all agreed on before signing the agreement through Gig Salad, and there are no surprises, it's all very clear when signing. Thank you Karla : }

Tom did an amazing job at our Christmas party entertaining 60 guests with his talents. The caricatures were a big hit! At first I wasn't sure that a caricaturist would be a good fit at a house party, it was a complete homerun and all were impressed with Tom's talent and warm personality. I highly recommend using his services, we most definitely will be calling him in for future events!

I hired Tom for my son's 1st birthday and everyone had a great time. Tom communicated very well before the event and arrived on time. He was very adaptable to requests, even drawing from pictures for people who could not attend the party. I would recommend Tom's services for any type of gathering.
We LOVED the caricatures done for our wedding! All of our guests loved them, and Tom is so friendly! I would definitely book Tom again! He did an amazing job and it was a highlight of our reception!

Good interaction with folks. Flexible in planning the event, but unable to stay for additional time when requested during the party. Our employees and their guests commented very favorably on the surprise of having the charicature artists. Figure, up front, on an extra hour, so you don't disappoint those wanting a portrait.

The overtime clause in the contract says that O.T. is an optional agreement between the artist and client. Unfortunately that evening I could not perform another hour because I had someone ill at home. 99 % of the time I can stay longer if need be. Tom Birmingham is a versatile freelance artist, with a degree in graphic design. He has provided quality caricature art entertainment in the greater Chicagoland area, and parts of eastern Indiana for over 30 years. He can also draw gift, pets, and wedding reception bridal couple sign in - board caricatures from photos. He has also taught the art of caricature at Moraine Valley Community College. He grew up in the south suburban area, and presently resides in Beecher, IL.
Although he has experience in greeting card art, T-shirt design, company logos, and humorous illustrations for newspaper/magazine articles, his true passion is caricature art. Tom’s personality, character, and ease with people make for an enjoyable experience. He enjoys working directly with people, having the face to face experience which produces a priceless reaction of smiles, and giggles that appear when the art is presented to the guests.
