Tokyo Beatniks: Japanese 60s & 70s Vinyl

Tokyo Beatniks allows the opportunity to create an authentic "Japanese" mood, environment, and experience for all involved. Rather than focusing on singing along to the next song, guests can focus on food, friends, and conversation while lounging and grooving to music--all in Japanese--that plays in the background.

After years of collecting rare and unique Japanese records from the 60s & 70s, Tokyo Beatniks is my opportunity to share some of my favorite music from a time that is nearly forgotten and even lesser known here in the US. I've pulled together original 45rpm records, 12 inch LPs, and continue to feature current bands from Japan that represent the sounds and significance of Japan in the 1960s.

I am 100% battery powered. I've worked to upgrade my portable turntables to have high quality hardware for the best sound. I'm able to cart my equipment in on a single trip. My flooring footprint is rather small, only consisting of 2 feet by 4 feet table set up to hold my records and turntables. I run two battery powered Bose S1 speakers that are mounted on stands, these can be directly stationed behind me, or adjusted further away for larger spaces. These are perfect for indoor or outdoor use. For indoor dining, I can opt for a smaller setup if necessary. Additionally, when the event is over, I can switch to a recorded playlist while breaking down equipment--as to not create a sudden stop to the event. Since I am battery powered, I can setup anywhere--weather considering.
