Musical storyteller and melodic guitarist set out to prove that folk is not extinct, playing a combination of original songs and covers.
Price Range: $100 and up
Gig Length: 30 - 120 minutes
What to Expect
The first set is a solo act by lead singer/ guitarist Josey, who will play a variety of cover songs as well as a few originals that are a better fit for a more intimate engagement. His original songs tend to tell a story--sometimes about mythical aspects of the world that cannot be seen and sometimes about things as simple as a weed growing out of the concrete.
The second set involved the full four-piece band--guitar, drums, bass, and a wondrous banjo/ loop pedal/ melodica/ player. This set is full of more original songs and more covers replete with harmonies that keep the soul warm through reflective lyrics and melodies. This set introduces a more psychedelic and jam-band-type sound heavily influenced by the likes of George Harrison, Songs: Ohia, and Dawes.
Tiny Dinosaur started when Josey moved to New Orleans over a year ago from Pittsburgh. It hurt his heart to leave his long-time band Red Hook Winery behind. Together, they were a perennial favorite at house parties across campus and earned the opportunity to open for Twenty One Pilots and Neon Trees at their Pittsburgh concert.
For a variety of reasons, he decided to leave the band and the city and relocate to New Orleans. Taken by the spirit of the city, Josey began writing songs and playing them for people. Eventually, others came to play with him. Combing folk chords and rhythms with a variety of instruments, tight harmonies, and imaginative lyrics this supergroup is now known as Tiny Dinosaur and the Gravity Wells.
