The Sylphide String Quartet is a premier ensemble based in Chicago, dedicated to creating exceptional musical experiences for weddings, private parties, corporate events, and special occasions. Founded in 2023 by violist and violinist Samantha Peng, Sylphide brings artistry, professionalism, and passion to every performance.

Who We Are
Our core ensemble consists of two violins, a viola, and a cello, performed by professional musicians with advanced degrees from top institutions including DePaul University, Northwestern University, and Eastman School of Music. Each member brings extensive orchestral and chamber experience, ensuring the highest level of musicianship and elegance for your event.

Based in Chicago, we are available for events throughout the region and beyond. Whether you’re planning an intimate gathering or a grand celebration, The Sylphide String Quartet will provide the perfect soundtrack for your event.

To ensure the best experience for your event, we ask for the following:

✔ Space: A minimum of 8 ft x 8 ft for the full quartet (smaller space is fine for solo/duet).
✔ Seating: Four armless chairs for the musicians (or fewer for smaller ensembles).
✔ Lighting: Adequate lighting to read music (or access to electrical outlet for music stand lights if the event is dimly lit).
✔ Cover/Shade: For outdoor events, full shade or a tented area is required to protect instruments from direct sun, rain, or extreme weather.
✔ Climate: Temperatures must be safe for wooden instruments (ideally between 60–85°F).
✔ Sound: No amplification is required for most settings; we perform acoustically. If the event space is very large or outdoors with high ambient noise, a microphone for announcements or light amplification can be helpful.

We bring our own music stands and instruments. Setup takes 10–15 minutes; please allow access to the performance area at least 30 minutes prior to start time.
