Shawn was the best addition to our Kentucky Derby party. We had a wide range of ages, Adults and children and he was able to entertain everyone. His voice was outstanding as well as his guitar playing. We can’t wait to have him at our next event.

The band played a house party for a dogs 3rd third birthday. Good excuse for a party. The music was great and they kept close to 100 people entertained for close to 4 hours. Told band to do what they do and they read the crowed and kept everyone happy. During the night people were coming up to me telling me band is real good. They were on time setting up and where easy to deal with and I would recommend this band for all types of events. Thanks for a great job.

I’m so glad I went with The Sweeney Rebellion! They took the party up a notch and made it a night to remember. Half the party guests have a musical background. My in-laws were wedding singers, my brother in law was in a band and I had Nothing but compliments! Sweeney read the crowd perfectly and played what they wanted. 10/10 would recommend.

What to expect
You can expect good vibes and good times—a professional musician with an excellent reputation for being talented, easy to work with, and responsive. I like to be an hour or two early to get acquainted and set up. I take a short break about halfway through. Sometimes if I play longer or conditions make it necessary, I'll take two breaks. I am open to requests if I know them. I am also open to learning any special song requests. I can't always guarantee this but I do my best. At the end of the evening, I always clean up after myself and leave the place the way I found it.
About
The Sweeney Rebellion, led by Ohio-based singer-songwriter Shawn Sweeney, delivers a powerful blend of country, rock, and Americana through a mix of original songs and well-loved covers. Growing up on a steady diet of classic rock and country, Shawn picked up the guitar at age 12 and began writing his own songs immediately. Now, with over 20 years of experience, he plays music full-time, performing several days a week at a wide range of venues.
From intimate private events to larger stages like the USO in Dayton, Ohio, where he has entertained soldiers and their families, Shawn’s career has been a rich journey of storytelling and connection. One of his proudest accomplishments is his work with the USO, welcoming troops home and playing at deployment events. Shawn’s collaborations have also been a significant part of his career, including an 8-year partnership with bassist Kjell Ogden and his co-writing efforts with Brian Gaskill for the film A Reluctant Heart, which features their song “Ride Away” in the closing credits.
The Sweeney Rebellion continues to evolve, with Shawn taking on solo performances while occasionally teaming up with guest musicians. Known for his ego-free approach to music, Shawn’s songwriting is an honest reflection of his life experiences, blending the old with the new and creating a sound that resonates with audiences of all kinds. Whether playing a local bar, a private event, or a larger venue, Shawn’s shows are always about creating a great time and good vibes for everyone in attendance.
Shawn’s music can be heard on platforms like Spotify, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and ReverbNation. He is currently working on a full album and continues to expand his reach, playing bigger stages and connecting with fans worldwide.
