The Sound Hounds is a 10-member ensemble that plays danceable big band classics and jazz standards. We have five horns, four rhythm instruments, and a terrific vocalist. Our book includes danceable tunes like "Take the A Train," "Chattanooga Choo Choo," and "C Jam Blues," and ballads like "My Funny Valentine," "Night and Day," "At Last" and many more.

Our band offers a steady flow of upbeat instrumentals and vocals including big band classics and jazz standards. We like to briefly introduce each tune with a factoid about the tune - like how "Take the A Train" got its name.
We also like to keep the dance floor filled with a mix of numbers that includes plenty of Latin tunes for dancers who dig the samba, the cha cha and other tempos.
Our band was formed in 2015 by life-long musicians who love to play swing and jazz and wanted to bring classics from the Great American Songbook to audiences that cherish music from the Big Band era.
Our performers are life-long musicians who have been influenced by bands and musicians from the Big Band era including leaders like Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and Count Basie and individual performers like Louis Armstrong, Harry James, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, JJ Johnson, Thelonious Monk and more.
