The Mystery Players

Our shows are typically divided into six parts: a prologue and five scenes. We provide a printed program for all your guests with information and a page for taking notes. During the prologue, our actors will set the scene and get your guests involved and excited for the mystery. Then during the first scene, they will meet all the characters—and some of your guests may even become suspects themselves. Once the crime is revealed, everyone will have a chance to become a detective, asking questions and finding clues. Scenes 2 and 4 are free-form, allowing the guests to move around and gather evidence. Scene 3 helps to bring the group back together and reveals more information. In the last scene, guests will submit their answers before finding out what really happened. The actors will sing songs throughout, and the free-form scenes are underscored either by our live musician or recorded music. At the end, all the suspects take their bows after the closing number.

If you are serving food, the free-form scenes allow natural breaks in the action. We can also work with your servers to make sure everything runs smoothly. Or if you're having a buffet or just snacks, your guests can get food at anytime during the show.

* GAME OVER - in this 1980s scenario, you're at the video game world championship (murder mystery)
* HOLLY JOLLY HOMICIDE - the local mall Santa has gone missing! (kidnapping version also available)
* KILLER KARAOKE - it's karaoke night, and the stakes couldn't be higher (murder mystery)
* THE MANY MURDERS OF AGATHA CRUSTY - delve into the mind of one of the greatest mystery writers to ever live... and solve her murder, too! (murder mystery)
* Y2KILLER - reality TV is getting too real; catch the killer before these messages end. (murder mystery)

We have also provided music-only shows for our clients, including bands and dueling pianos. This is a great option when you're looking to hire top-notch talent to play a particular genre or time period of music.

Founded in 2023 by veterans of the immersive-interactive theatre industry, The Mystery Players aims to bring the highest-quality entertainment to every event. Our goal is to make your guests feel like stars in their own mystery show alongside some of the most talented performers New York City has to offer. Through moments of drama, comedy, and music, you and your guests are guaranteed to have a thoroughly unique theatrical experience, whether we are in a theatre, a restaurant, a catering hall, or even your own living room.

Our Broadway-caliber performers have appeared across the country and internationally, in great theatres and concert halls, and on screen as well. Venues include Disney Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines, 54 Below, Symphony Space, Signature Theatre, St. Ann’s Warehouse, the 92nd Street Y, Tanglewood Music Festival, the Stone Pony, Bowery Electric, The Flea, Broadway Comedy Club, The Laguna Playhouse, Musical Theatre West, Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, John W. Engeman Theater, Mohegan Sun, and Atlantic City’s Hard Rock, Borgata, and Ocean casinos. Our actors have been seen on Bravo, HBO, Impractical Jokers, American Idol, national commercials, and more.

At the very least, we need a place for our actors to prepare for the show, which we call the "green room", and a place to plug in our electrical equipment. The place where the show will take place should be easy to move around and have at least one place where action can happen (not necessarily a stage, any slightly more open space will do). If you have a piano, great! If not, we can bring a keyboard and/or sound system depending on the room size and number of guests. Our shows are fairly flexible, so we will go over what we need when we discuss your show.

If you are really looking to blow your guests away and you have the space, we can also provide additional staging, lighting, etc., for an additional cost. Let us know!
