I provide the audience with a genuine, heartfelt account of my personal journey with mental illness, and the frustrating experience of navigating the mental health system to obtain help with my recovery.
I discuss the prevalence of mental illness due to the stress and violence in American society today. As a result, no one is immune to becoming personally touched by mental illness. For this reason, it is important to destigmatize mental illness in our community.
At the end of my talk, I emphasize the importance of hope and faith in maintaining psychological wellbeing and happiness.
My speeches are interactive, involving the audience in sharing their stories and feelings, along with my providing them information about how to obtain help and maintain their mental health.

Renee D. Warring survived four suicide attempts prior to seeking treatment for her schizophrenia. A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Renee holds a BA in Psychology from Temple University, and is an activist for social and health care issues, impacting people with mental illness. Despite being stigmatized by society, Renee is the Warring Warrior against mental illness, and how it is perceived by society.
