The Makalani Movement

Expect to hear music that betrays the portals of color through the notes and chord changes in chord structure of jazz improvised melodically on trumpet through the intervalic relationships and the changes of the chords in the temp of music.
Expect to enter face with expressing your emotions through physical movement and dance.

I started piano lessons at age 5 and began playing trumpet in the 6th grade when I was 11 years old some of my influences include but are not limited to SydneBechet, buddy Bolden jelly roll Morton King Oliver and of course Louis Armstrong from the traditional Jazz of New Orleans on to more modern and recent musicians like Miles Davis Freddie Hubbard Charlie bird Parker and John Coltrane I enjoy the music of Herbie Hancock and the SOS band I enjoy playing Funk jazz fusion and writing music within that vein to get a chance to express the Jazz improvisation of a serious Straight Ahead jazz musician and the High Life free flowing feeling that funk music provides to make you want to dance. I'm classically trained from 18th century Baroque style classical music playing music of composers like the Gedeki, Haydn and archangelo Corelli to Jazz of the modern-day era to the second 50 years of New Orleans all the way to the present with names like Wynton Marsalis kid Jordan Marlin Jordan.

I'm currently a music educator teaching Marching band and Choir at the high school level and Elementary music ..I completed my undergrad at Huston Tillotson University i. Austin Texas with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in instrumental music performance and vocal music pedagogy.
