What to expect

We are mostly a violin and guitar duo, but can bring in a bass and drums for gigs that need a fuller sound. We've got a wide range of originals and fun covers, and people love to sing along with us when we play! We have our own sound system that we can bring when needed, and are easy to work with as well as capable of planning and managing a gig from start to finish.

About

The Last City began in 2012 while Adrien and Lizbet Palmer were living abroad in Hiroshima, Japan. That core duo of an acoustic guitarist and a classically trained violinist, respectively, has since relocated to Dallas, Texas. There, they have expanded, bringing on bassist Lucas Reader. On their self-titled LP, you’ll find an Indie Chamber Pop sound, drawing from such influences as Damien Rice, John Mayer, The xx, One Republic and The Arctic Monkeys.

Their music is intended to remind us that we are all one. Their lyrics and music draw from various sources, mythologies, and experiences, but never fit just one box. The world will always be much bigger than that.

Since the release of their first live album in late 2018, Cinderblock Sessions, a recording of their cd release show featuring a full string quartet, they are hard at work on their next project. Their latest EP, Willfully Human, was released in 2021, with an accompanying book and a few more surprises on the way.
