The Gate City Jazz Trio
Overview
The Gate City Jazz Trio is a professional jazz trio based in Greensboro, NC providing top-level jazz in a performance or background role for parties, celebrations, small and large events, holiday events, corporate events, etc. The Trio welcomes gigs locally, regionally, and nationally.
We also provide solo piano or guitar, duo (client’s preference of duo combination of piano, guitar, horn, bass, and vocalist), traditional trio, or quartet (client’s preference of Trio with guitar, horn, or vocalist added).
Members of the Trio have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in music, with two holding a Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies. All members are educators, two at the college and university level.

Gate City Jazz Trio performed for a holiday party at the Greensboro Country Club in December as background music for the cocktail buffet for 200 guests. It provided a special ambience for the party, and we couldn’t have asked for anything better.
Matt Reid was excellent to work with, responding quickly to emails and providing a suitable contract for services. The musicians were very professional. They arrived with plenty of setup time and honored the break times and ending time. They were appropriately dressed. We were extremely satisfied and pleased with our experience with the trio.

What to expect
The GCJT provides music for events between one and four hours in length, performing jazz standards, holiday standards, Latin jazz standards, swing standards, funk and fusion standards and modern jazz. The Trio is also available for holiday events.
About
The Gate City Jazz Trio is a professional jazz ensemble based in Greensboro, NC, comprised of Matt Reid on piano, Evan Campfield on bass, and Chrishawn Darby on drums. The GCJT is a staple in the North Carolina jazz scene, most recently as the resident musicians at The Quarter and Chandler’s in Greensboro. The GCJT performs regularly in the locally and regionally in many different venues and settings, offering straight-ahead and Latin jazz favorites from the 1920s to current.
Each member of the GCJT holds, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in a music-related field, and all currently serve as music educators in private, public and/or university settings. Each member has extensive knowledge of the jazz idiom and jazz performance, and provides professional musical entertainment for all types of venues.
Additional booking notes
We kindly ask clients to ensure access to the venue is available an hour prior to start of performance. Close parking is requested, however, we understand this may be unavailable in some venues.
