What to expect
We own state of the art Bose PA products, which easily handles smaller, intimate settings to larger venues. We carry stage lighting, including a 16" mirrored disco ball with lights to create a beautiful ambiance in the room, reminiscent of the days of Studio 54. We require easy proximity to standard AC electric and it takes us three hours to set the stage up and do an adequate sound check. Tear down after the show is completed in an hour. We play a two hour show with a 15 minute intermission halfway through. During the first set, our dance pros teach your guests a few disco line dance moves, and this really gets folks involved right away. The band plays all the classic disco hits of the era, and it's a nonstop party. Toward the end of the first set, we host a costume contest and award an oh so groovy prize to the best dressed! After our short intermission, our second set ramps it up, our pros once again teach another line dance, and directly after that, we host a Soul Train Line style dance contest, judged by our pros, and award the winner another really fun prize. Should the group require announcements to be made, we have a dedicated wireless microphone for that use, or one of our vocalists can easily accommodate any announcement requests.
About
The Ross Band is a versatile trio of three vocalists, keyboards and sax. Greg, our musical director plays keys bass, piano, synth and strings, Robin plays guitar parts on her key tar as well as percussion, guitar and woodwinds, and we feature a talented sax player....all sing. We offer a fun, audience-interactive show, playing your favorite from the 70s to today, concentrating on the fabulous 70s and 80s disco era, sure to pack the dance floor as well as sing alongs with our audience.
We perform a two or three hour show, typically consisting of two sets of live music and an intermission. Full stage lighting with a sound system to accommodate intimate groups to large halls. We can also bring along a DJ….just let us know.
Performing regularly as a trio, we can add the DJ if desired as well as a percussionist and additional vocalist, all at a sensible budget.
Additional booking notes
All of our music is performed live with the foundation laid down in the lead keyboard player's instrument. The horn section is all live, our percussionist is armed with a set of digital drum pads, a set of congas as well as all sorts of other Latin percussion instruments. Guitar parts are covered by our lead vocalist on a keytar. We use two Bose Pro16 Line array systems on each side of the stage, with three Bose S1 speakers on the floor for stage monitors, and several of the horn players utilize in-ear monitors. We bring two four-par lighting tripods for each side of the stage, with a truss at the back of the stage for effects lights and a logo scrim. Whenever possible, we hang a 16" mirrored disco ball and light it from 4-6 locations at the ceiling. Lighting and sound is controlled by our audio tech, operating remotely in the back of the room. This ensures the volume level is appropriate for the type of event.
