About

The Chamberfolk is an acoustic, instrumental band featuring Becca Schaeffer on harp and piano, Alex Picca on upright bass, and Steve Basenfelder on guitar and ukulele. Formed in 2024 outside Philadelphia, we specialize in crafting songs that are both accessible and complex, catchy and nuanced. Our signature sound comes from a fondness of mixing freely from the genres that we love--while rooted in folk, we also draw upon traditional, classical, jazz, indie, and even video game music to flesh out our musical character.

Becca graduated with a degree in harp performance from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver; Alex toured nationally for years with The Press and Courtesy Tier and now operates Tape Deck Studios in Brooklyn; Steve was guitarist for touring international act Arna Rox, and composes video game music under Steve Base Music.
