March 20, 2023The best band ever!
My husband and I married after 48 years of meeting when we were teenagers. Our reception was mixed of our parents, adult children and sons and daughters. From the first minute of play, Deep Drawl was able to capture, entertain and rock the dance floor. Their range of music, the instrumentals and the pristine voices made our wedding day. Our guests could not stop speaking of them. We recommend the band and their assistant Dana to anyone. You will be sorry if you don’t reserve them! Thank you Deep Drawl - an evening we will not forget. Marianne and Rob.

We loved every minute of the celebration and are truly humbled by your kind words. The effervescent smiles and rowdy singing along was a night to remember for guests and the band alike. Put us down for the anniversary party!

August 23, 2017The highlight of my wedding
We were looking for an acoustic guitarist/ singer to sing and play a wedding entrance song and walkout song. We were out of state and were unable to meet with a musician before the wedding. The Bushells contacted us and within hours of posting the add, had sent us a recording of their Gutiartist Jim Algar (YouTube man of a thousand voices) playing the two songs. He nailed both of them and was hired without having to hear anyone else. He arrived early and was set on the beach before we arrived. I was worried about the acoustics and he did a sound check with me. He did an amazing job playing the songs for us and then even stayed a little longer while the photographer took pictures and he played some nice songs to keep the wedding party entertained. Very reasonably priced and amazing all around. Thanks guys.

April 28, 2016My favorite!
I first met The Bushels at Music to your Mouth, food and wine festival at The Inn at Palmetto Bluff. We have now worked together a numerous occasions both weddings and corporate groups. They are my go-to all time favorites for bluegrass & southern rock. I love how you catch yourself singing along and realize it a classic song that now as a great bluegrass twist. All you need are some roasted oysters, cold beer, and The bushels!

About
Typically a unit of mass or weight, a bushel is relative to the standard measurement of a commodity—a bushel of barley may not equal a bushel of oysters. In much the same way, trying to define The Bushels as a band depends on how much weight you assign their influences: bluegrass, country, soul, rock, and jazz.
“We get tagged as a bluegrass band due to the instruments,” says mandolin playing singer Mal Jones, “but we’re really an acoustic rock band with lots of dynamics…and that lets us go into different areas.”
In 2010, the group released Wood & Steel—a seven-song studio collaboration between Jones, brothers Jim (guitar) and Whitt Algar (double bass), and banjoist Guilds Hollowell. It was the follow-up to their 2009 EP, Blacktree, which includes “Sweet T.” A hard-charging, Appalachian-style number, it's a favorite of the guys that own Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka...they use it as a theme song.
In March 2013 the band released it’s 3rd record,….self-titled, THE BUSHELS. Recorded at Mantis Studios over the course of the winter of 2012 the sound is a natural evolvement from their past recordings. “We’ve added lots of musical color to this record; drums,
piano, organ, pedal steel, violin and some great backing vocals. There are some new tunes and some older tunes reworked for this bigger band. All of those influences are in the mix. We are looking forward to getting it out there and having it heard.”
