The Blue Studios Caricatures

I aim to get to my gigs at least 30 minutes early in case of delays. My drawing area sets up quickly with minimal assistance from my clients, who are usually running around getting ready.

Many people wish me to start after the event has been going for an hour or so, but most have me there at the start as an effective icebreaker. The guests gather around to watch me draw, and I usually draw singles or couples, first-come, first-serve. Sign-in sheets are not helpful unless an assistant is provided, because nobody pays any attention to time when they're busy having fun at a party, and managing a list takes away from my drawing time!

Sometimes I am hired just to draw the kids, but I warn my clients that adults love caricatures even more than kids do! In fact, more than half of my gigs are corporate events and adults-only parties.

I offer black and white drawings, color, headshots and full custom bodies. B&W heads are the fastest; sometimes I can do over 20 guests per hour. B&W bodies are what most people choose, and I can do about 10-14 guests per hour. Color is slow: Color heads are 8-12/hour and color bodies are 4-5 per hour.

I truly love to perform and make people happy with my caricatures.

Christine was trained intensively in the art of caricature drawing at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ, where she spent the summer of '99 drawing patrons. After completing her B.A. in Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration and Figure Drawing, The Blue Studios Caricatures was born.

Christine does party caricature, studio caricature, pencil portraiture, digital photo retouching and graphic design in Green Brook, NJ.

All I need is an area about 5x7 feet, adequate lighting, shade (if outside) and 2 or 3 chairs. A table is helpful, but not required.
