We’ll communicate clearly every step of the way, and we’re happy to accommodate early setup access, coordinate with your venue, and offer teardown and eco-conscious disposal services when requested. You’ll always know what to expect—and we’ll do everything we can to exceed those expectations.

Hi, I’m Karen Sawyer—Certified Balloon Artist (CBA), Certified Event Planner, and owner of The Balloon Boutique. I’ve dedicated over 20 years to the celebration industry, and I truly believe there’s magic in gathering people together and making life’s moments feel extraordinary.

What began as a creative side hobby blossomed into a multi-brand event business that includes balloon décor, a kids' party venue, entertainment services, and educational resources for aspiring balloon artists. Today, The Balloon Boutique is my dedicated balloon styling studio, where we specialize in crafting fun, festive, and unforgettable balloon designs for both social celebrations and corporate events.

From colorful balloon garlands and spiral arches to fully themed backdrops, custom marquees, and luxury installations, we’re all about creating moments that pop—literally and emotionally. Whether it’s a whimsical baby shower, a school celebration, a glammed-up milestone birthday, or a branded balloon wall for a grand opening, we help clients bring their vision to life with professional polish and creative flair.

We proudly serve York, Lancaster, and Harrisburg, PA, as well as the Baltimore Metro area, and we’ve been honored to work with hundreds of private clients, schools, small businesses, and national brands over the years. As a Minority- and Women-Owned Business (M/WBE Certified), I’m passionate about representation, empowerment, and providing opportunities through entrepreneurship. I’ve mentored dozens of new balloon artists and event decorators, and I share tutorials, behind-the-scenes content, and professional resources on my YouTube channel to support others who want to thrive in this industry.

When I’m not building balloon walls or running my party venue, The Party Palooza, I’m probably creating digital tools for new business owners, hosting virtual workshops, or spending time with my family (I'm a mom of five and a former foster parent of over 50 children!). Every element of my journey—from parenthood to parties—has shaped the way I approach design, customer care, and creativity.

The Balloon Boutique provides both freestanding and hanging balloon installations for indoor and outdoor events. Most designs are installed on-site using professional-grade materials, and many include disposable or reusable framing depending on your needs.

Here are a few helpful notes for booking:

Outdoor Decor: We only install arches and columns outdoors when wind/weather conditions allow. Organic garlands and helium balloons are not guaranteed to last outdoors and are not recommended in high heat or direct sun.

Ceiling Requirements: For balloon walls or large columns, we recommend a ceiling height of 8–12 ft. Custom sizing is available.

Power Needs: We bring our own balloon inflators, which may require access to an electrical outlet if on-site inflation is necessary.

Framing Options: We offer eco-friendly reusable frames as well as disposable frameworks. If teardown is not requested, clients are responsible for discarding any remaining materials.

Delivery & Setup: Most installations are completed within 1-2 hours. Larger jobs may require early venue access and coordination with staff.

Weather Considerations: For outdoor installs, we always have a plan in place for inclement weather and will discuss alternate options if needed.
