About
We are singer/songwriters playing a mix of Americana, Blues and Rock in our own unique style covering artists from the early Blues and Rock & Roll era through the present day. Our originals songs feature catchy melodies, tight harmonies and diverse rhythms. Yolonda holds down a steady rhythm on acoustic guitar and periodically switches to harmonica and percussion, while Tex takes the lead on electric guitar. An undeniable chemistry transcends the stage and produces an engaging and dynamic performance.
Tex ((link hidden)enn Sciurba) is best known for his time spent with Badfinger and Commander Cody, whom he played with for over 20 years. He also spent time playing with The Rolling Stones, Albert Collins, Hot Tuna, Randy Castillo and many others. As a studio musician in LA, he worked with Grammy award winning composer Diane Warren (Aerosmith, Arron Neville, Bryan Adams,Cher..) and producers Andy Johns (The Stones, Led Zeppelin), David Briggs (Neil Young) and John Alcock (Thin Lizzy, The Who, Earle Slick).
In 1996 Tex & Yo began playing along side New England artists Ken Lyon (The Tombstone Blues Band) and Mark Cutler (The Schemers, The Raindogs). We soon formed our duo "The Tex & Yo Show" and started playing coffee houses, cafe's, bookstores and other small venues around Southern New England. By the late we had quickly became known for our energetic live shows and unique adaptations of Classic Rock & Psychedelic songs.
In 2001 we headed West playing Blues clubs, Hollywood hotspots and LA's Americana scene along side of national and local legends such as Gary Mallaber (Steve Miller, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison), Dewey Terry (Don & Dewey) Tony Glikynson ( X, Dave Alvin, Chuck E. Weise), Mike Stinson, Randy Weeks, Tracy Huffman and many other great artists. We also had a rare opportunity to hang and record with San Fransisco legend Jack Cassady of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna fame.
Now, back on the East Coast, we're performing some of our greatest original songs to date while adding a mix of classic '60's covers (Stones, Jefferson Airplane, The Dead, Nancy Sinatra, Elvis) and contemporary artists (Lucinda Williams, Sheryl Crow, K.T. Tunstall) to round out the show.
