Overview

I'm a "Worship Evangelist" and I am also a solo performer, pianist/vocalist. My aim is to schedule myself in small, medium and even larger churches, opening with 4 - 5 original worship songs, followed by a strong, Biblically-based Evangelistic sermon with an Altar Call, and closing with 4 - 5 more songs. My services would have en established fee, varying in price depending on the number of sessions; i. i. a single evening event, or several sessions planned over an entire weekend.

What to expect

Over the years many people have compared Ted's piano, vocal and writing style to the late Keith Green and Andrea Crouch and Billy Joel. His main instrument is piano, but he also offers several classical pieces as guitar instrumentals from J. S. Bach, Roland Kirk and others. His concerts generally run from 1.5 - 2 hours in length, and he often gives short "Sermonettes" in between his selections. Most of his material is original, combining both Christian Worship in honor of Jesus, as well as songs which address many contemporary issues from a strong Biblical Perspective. His passion is "Worship-Evangelism."

About

Ted Schempp was raised on Boston's North Shore, in Beverly, Massachusetts. He began his musical studies with piano at age 6, and six years later began studying guitar and bass guitar. His vocal studies were at The Longy School of Music, in Cambridge, MA, from 1972-73 and also at The Berklee College of Music, in Boston, in 1986. He wrote his first song, "Like the Wind," when he was 16, and also wrote his Senior High School class song, "From Here We Go Alone" in 1969. In may of 1971, Ted surrendered his life to Jesus Christ, and began writing Contemporary Christian Music, and his first L P "Come to the Castle" was released in 1978. Two singles, "His Blood, His Sweat, His Tears," / "Make Me the Man," and "Greater is He Who is in Me" / "Lady, You're a Witness" followed in 1980. He expanded his touring from the Boston Area and Greater New England, to include three Southern Tours from 1980-82, with concerts in Connecticut, Northern, VA, S. Carolina and Florida. His next album, "Welcome the Bridegroom," was released in 1989, with "Walk Worthy" 2005 and "No Other Name" in 2015. From 1993-95, he served as a missionary with Youth with a Mission, in Lakeside, MT, and settled in the Nashville, TN Area in 1995. In addition to his Contemporary Christian Music, Ted also writes guitar instrumentals and is currently working on a guitar project entitled, "Rose of Sharon," in memory of his late wife. His main goal is to contribute to the need of a Regional and then hopefully a Nationwide "Spiritual Awakening" to enable our Nation to return to its Godly, Christ-Centered spiritual and moral roots. Besides serving in churches, Ted also has done extensive work with Prison Ministries and has served as a Prison Fellowship Volunteer in New England from 1986 -95. He is also available for banquets and other related venues.

Additional booking notes

Ted travels with his own P A System, portable keyboard, amplifiers and guitars and CDs for sale. However, if air travel is involved, then he would only travel with minimal luggage and possibly one guitar and have CDs dropped shipped to each venue, and need to rely on a suitable keyboard and sound system at each venue.

Set list

My set lists include mostly my original songs and instrumentals, supplemented by non-original worship songs and instrumentals. The int will depend on each venue and what selections would be most appropriate.

Influences and inspiration

Ted's earliest influences were the compositions of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Handel, Schubert, Chopin, Ravel and Debussy. His earliest songwriting influences were The Beatles, The Moody Blues, Steve Winwood, King Crimson and Eric Clapton. His first Contemporary Christian influences were Andrae Crouch and the Disciples, Randy Stonehill, Phil Keaggy, Danny Taylor, Degarmo and Key, Larry Norman, Keith Green, Switchfoot, Audio Adrenaline, Matt Redman, Stuart Townend, Christ Tomlin, Laura Storey, and Ginny Owens. He has also been heavily influenced instrumentally by The Allan Brothers, Chicago, Santana, Steve Miller and Gordon Lightfoot. He continues to be influenced by the worship music of current Christian Worship Leaders.

Setup requirements

If I'm traveling with my van, then I will provide all of my own equipment and only require adequate lighting. However, if traveling by air, then I would need an adequate full 88 key keyboard, amp, P A System . I would provide my own guitar.
