T2D2 Toys brings a DIY toy-making workshop to your party! Using recycled materials, we guide your guests in creating custom collectible action figures complete with packaging. We provide all materials and tools and can tailor the experience for any age, any demographic, any theme. As professional artists, teachers, and props designers, you can be confident that we can take anyone from zero to (super)hero, no matter their experience or skill level!

I learned about T2D2 toys by joining the Chicago Illimat League they hosted this past spring and had so much fun! They curated a vibe that perfectly fit with the game, and introduced some lore about the game every week. It was part game, part theatre, part secret society, and was a great time every week.

June 18, 2025A fun and engaging addition to our convention lineup!
I'm a librarian with Chicago Public Library and work with the teen services department to plan a DIY gaming convention as a part of an internship program with a group of high school students. T2D2 has been a welcome addition to our convention offerings for the past two years, and has been an amazing partner each time. They hosted an action figure customization workshop that was a huge hit with kids and families, as well as a few different game design workshops that have also been well attended by people of all ages. We work with a lot of partners in this role, and I can say that T2D2 has been one of the best and easiest to work with! Highly recommended for your event.

What to expect
With our unique hands-on workshop, guests will have the chance to create their own custom collectible action figure from recycled toys, complete with a hand-drawn or collaged-from-comic-books backercard and repurposed plastic blister pack-style packaging that'll they'll take home and be able to display on one of our laser cut cardboard stands. We provide all tools, materials, and guidance necessary to bring anyone's artistic toy vision to life! We've run hands-on workshops for individuals at the library up to an entire comic convention floor of an audience of 90 people. Regardless of scale, you'll get direction and materials suitable for any age or skill-level.
If you hire us to run our DIY Action Figure Workshop at your event, you can expect a skilled team with the exact combination of experience you want: high school and middle school teachers and college professors for step-by-step instruction and crowd management skills; artists and designers for creative brainstorming and problem-solving; and theatre and events professionals for efficiency and on-the-fly technical assistance.
It's not just for kids' superhero birthday parties --though we love those and even have a former professional Spider-Man on staff. Our workshop is perfect for a unique team-building exercise; a fun, interactive takeaway for your trade show booth; and we're even working with a mental health counseling firm to use the workshop for an art therapy experience.

T2D2 Toys is a collective of artists, teachers, and designers who love weird toys and sustainability. We started this project as a way to repurpose broken toys into collectibles and discovered we loved showing others how to make their own art as well. We've done workshops and custom drops at comic conventions like GenCon, C2E2, CapriCon, and Dragon*Con; partnered with The Chicago Public Library; and would love to make a special appearance at your next birthday, wedding, gala, block party, reunion, fundraiser, or any event where guests might like to make a very memorable party favour!

Setup requirements
We'll need at least one long table for our tools and materials set up.
You're welcome to give guests what ever workspace you'd like, but we suggest that each guest has their own clear surface for assembly, drawing, and collaging.
