Overview
With inspiration from legendary singers and composers such as Betty Carter, Lee Konitz, Thelonius Monk and Alice Babs she continues to develop her voice as a storyteller and improviser constantly searching for interesting and compelling ways to create new vocal jazz. As a composer Alicia is constantly pushing boundaries of the role of voice as an instrument in the contemporary jazz context and experiments with textures and sound worlds to develop her artistic practice. Alicia’s curiosity and playfulness is strongly reflected in her improvisations and compositions and gives a personal and vibrant sound to her music and arrangements.
