Our favorite review: "Definitely not a 'Dad-band.' Holy cow." - The Post.
Superfunk5 features some of the top-notch musicians and vocalists in the DMV, who have honed their huge catalog to perfection - a mix of superb sing-along songs, a great stage rap, and a band that obviously enjoys their shows.
A combination of modern and classic rock, funk, blue-eyed soul and British Invasion music makes the band perfect for venues and parties. But ALWAYS funky. While the rest of the band has music degrees from prestigious universities, Tim the singer is a clown who can barely tie his shoes. Perfect. Oh yeah - killer sound and light systems, and a great attitude.
Let us rock your event!
Tim and the band went well above and beyond to make our wedding party a fantastic show. We wanted it to feel like a rock concert, less like a wedding reception and they delivered with total gusto. Everyone had a blast and even in 90+ degree heat everyone danced up a storm. We can't thank them enough for everything they handled for us, they left no detail unplanned. We seriously hope they are still rocking in ten years so we can throw an anniversary party! Thank you GirlX!
Girl X was the perfect band to have for an age-range of guests. They provided the sole entertainment for our charity fundraiser, hosting more than 250 guests who clearly love music. They provided just the right mix of great listening for the more senior crowd but kicked it in for those who love the 80's, 90's and beyond, and wanted to party on the dance floor! Tim Hermes and his band were so easy and fun to work with. I definitely want to work with them again!
GirlX played for a recent gala that I cochaired for a nonprofit. They were professional from start to finish. They were open to music suggestions ahead of time and played exactly the type of music we needed to make the party fun. They were on time, dressed appropriately for the theme of the gala, and kept the whole party dancing well into the evening. Everyone had a fantastic time and multiple people told me that the band is what made the party such a hit. Can't wait to have them play again!
Response from SuperFunk5:
It was the hats. Had to be the hats. We'd love to do your gala again Kathy!
GirlX performed at my husband's surprise 50th birthday party this past weekend and were amazing!! They joined in on the sports-theme of the party and wore homemade jerseys, and Cate dazzled as the referee! They connected so well with the guests, and were flexible in letting a few family members take the stage and perform. I would definitely recommend hiring GirlX, as they bring high energy, quality and professionalism to their gigs. Thank you so much, GirlX!
We booked last minute for our event and we were not disappointed in the least bit! GirlX put on a fantastic performance for our guests!! Would love to book them again.
Response from SuperFunk5:
Thanks Casey! Just reach out anytime!
Very professional & entertaining!
Response from SuperFunk5:
Well thank you Paola!!
Hire this band - before someone else does!! Seriously, they played a Friday night at our community pool and just KILLED it! So fun. Flexible with potential rain. Professional. Talent out the WAZOO!! Lots of covers - fun, kicky, happy! Loved them and so did everyone else!
Response from SuperFunk5:
<blush>
I was looking for a band last minute just a week before throwing a big non profit event and starting to panic. GirlX was a godsend! Not only did they work with us on pricing to fit within our budget but the music was wonderful! They were entertaining, professional and great for all ages. They communicated quickly with us and even stayed longer than the time we had paid them for. I had several people at our event come up to us raving about the band. We are so thankful and highly recommend GirlX to anyone looking for a great music at their next event.
Response from SuperFunk5:
Aww shucks. Thanks Marlee. Congrats on raising so much money for a great cause!
Girl X has preformed here at King Street Blues many times. They always pack the place! This is a group of true professionals. We have been hosting live music here in Old Town for twenty five years. Girl X is the best of the best!

The band has been playing a long time and understand that sometimes we're the center of attention, and sometimes not. We get it. We'll fit into wherever we need to be. But hopefully your crowd will be rocking', sweatin', singing into their beer bottles and taking selfies on the stage with us. That's what we want. We want you to look as good as possible by hiring one bad**% band!
We don't want to bore you. I mean, biographies? Really?

The band has a full PA for rooms up to 1000 sq ft. And there is no charge for our service. For larger venues, a sound reinforcement company would need to be retained for approximately $200 which we'd include in your quote. For outside shows, a stage, and overhead covering must be provided (we don't want rain or mud to get in the gear.) Lights are also available for $150. Depending on venue we will break that down in your quote.

Prince, Stevie Wonder, the Beatles, Maroon 5, old funk like James Brown, Bob Marley, The Meters, newer bands like Neon Trees, Barenaked Ladies, Elvis Costello the Pretenders, the Staples Singers, New Republic, Alt-J, and dozens of others. The band tries to find the sweet spot between funk and rock, that is catchy, danceable, but is still super-rocking'! We seem have found that place. Check out our videos for a sample of each style.
Ample space for four musicians, amps and monitors - approx. 15x15 but we can work with anything.

Gideon L. said “David worked with me to provide a surprise anniversary present where he pretended to busk while my partner and I were nearby. It was a tiny private concert…”
Katie L. said “Bob is a very talented singer and guitarist. He performs great under pressure. His professionalism is top notch. I would gladly hire Bob again!”
