Overview
Let’s bring your event to to the next level! While I’m new to GigSalad (and so have few reviews to date), I’ve been performing around DC and the DMV for 20 years. My music blends ‘rock and soul’, along with some indie, alternative and folk elements, creating a unique spin on a range of covers. I ‘read the room’ to tailor each show to the host’s preferences and the venue’s vibe. I also play hand percussion and can add a duo set for additional variety that will get your event swinging (see videos). I cover Bob Marley, Talking Heads, Beck, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Grateful Dead, Johnny Cash, U2, and others. I’d love to play at your event and am offering a great ‘value for money’ on price.

What to Expect
The audience can expect an energizing, crowd-pleasing show of beloved covers performed in a unique style that blends rock and soul, among other genres. The audience will find me personable, interactive, and responsive to the setting/vibe of the event. I will coordinate closely with the event planners to ensure that the performance and set list is well tailored to the event. In addition to my solo act I often combine a duo set where I play hand percussion with another guitarist—this adds variety and rhythmic flare to the show, and is sure to get toes tapping. I will be fully professional, well prepared, punctual and friendly in all interactions. While I am new to GigSalad (and so have few reviews there as yet), I’ve been performing across the DMV for over 20 years in bars, restaurants and wineries. I am setting very competitive price targets to ensure that I’m offering the best possible ‘value for money’ on GigSalad as I build up my portfolio on the site. So now is a great time to book me from a cost perspective, too. I can’t wait to collaborate with you on your event!
About
I am a singer-songwriter, guitarist and percussionist based in Washington DC. I play across the DMV in bars, restaurants, breweries, wineries, corporate events and house parties. My style is 'rock and soul' blending elements of both genres and others in my vast songlist (see my repertoire in the "music" section of my website). I have been playing guitar and singing for over 20 years, building on my earlier roots in hand percussion. I try to bring a fun, rhythmic pulse to my shows to bring the music alive and keep toes tapping. I often combine solo sets with duos where I play hand percussion with other singer-songwriters to add even more variety to your event (see videos) . While my live shows mostly feature beloved cover songs, I have finalized two EPs of originals, collaborating with some of Washington's finest musicians. I also play percussion in Washington DC's premier funk rock band Magnelove, which gigs across the DMV region and I perform in multiple duos as well, often incorporating both solo and duo sets in my shows.

Influences & Inspiration
See set list below — influences come from rock, soul, country, folk and indie styles. I play a wide range of cover songs spanning everything from rock to indie to soul and beyond. My 'songbook' includes over 150 songs, including singalongs, anthems and more obscure gems that will get your toes tapping and your head thinking. I try to inhabite each song while putting my own spin on it, often with a soulful take. I combine elements of 'rock and soul' in my music, seeking to blend together these (and other) genres in a unique way. Covered artists include Talking Heads, James Brown, the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Beck, Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, U2, Red Hot Chilly Peppers, REM, Depeche Mode, Bill Whithers, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, the Clash, The Beatles and Sting, among others. My songbook includes beloved singalongs, deep cuts and points in between; regardless, I always try to inhabit the spirit of the song while putting my own stamp on it, typically in a soulful direction.
