Strummin and Drummin were incredible from start to finish. I immediately knew they would be the right fit when I saw their promotional video. Things only got better after talking to Philippe. They performed beautifully for a large private party in our home and it was all very smoothly executed with minimal effort on my part. They set the tone for the event and really made it special. Book them, you’re making the right choice.

We hired Strummin & Drummin for my sister’s 40th birthday party, and they did not disappoint. Phillipe and Mike were incredibly professional—taking the time to Zoom with me beforehand to understand the vibe, the crowd, and the music we wanted. They handled setup entirely on their own and were accommodating, fun, and unbelievably talented.
We had the best night and will absolutely be booking them again.

Philippe and company were awesome! We hired them to play at my 40th birthday dinner party & got so many compliments. Everyone loved them! They're great performers and really entertained the guests. They went with the flow and played all of our favorite songs! I want to throw more parties just so I can keep hiring them!

What to expect
The audience can expect an energizing show of favorite covers. We will play in our signature ‘strumming and drumming’ style that leans on rhythmic groove, melodic guitar and vocal harmonies loved by audiences. The audience and event planners will find us personable and responsive to the setting/vibe of the event. We will coordinate closely with the planners to ensure that the performance and set list is well tailored to the event.
About
Strummin&Drummin has been performing across the DMV since 2020, energizing private and corporate events across the region. Our style is 'rock and soul' blending elements of both genres and others in a vast songlist of crowd-pleasing covers.
Philippe sings harmony and plays hand percussion (including congas, cajon, talking drum, djembe , shakers) bringing a fun, rhythmic pulse to our shows. He brings over 3 decades of experience as a performing percussionist. His roster of singing guitarists add the strumming (and vocals) to Philippe’s signature hand drumming, blending tight rhythms with acoustic melodies.

Influences and inspiration
Our influences come from rock, soul, funk, folk and indie styles (see our partial song list. Our 'songbook' includes over 500 tunes, including singalongs, anthems and more obscure gems that will get your toes tapping and your body moving to the groove.
We blend 'rock and soul' in our music, seeking to blend together these (and other) genres in a unique way. Our ‘strum and drum’ approach combines melodic and rythmic elements, making for a fun and engaging performance. We have found that the hand percussion is a kind of ‘special sauce’ that can really create a festive and, if desired, danceable atmosphere.
The percussion draws on influences from African, Latin American and other ‘global music’ strands. We love to interact and engage with our audiences to bring them into the performance and the fun.
