Review by Andrew W.

Suddenly Sideways is a solid show every time! I love how they play a wide variety of genres and when they played Studio One it was no exception. They can play from mellow to ragin' sometimes in the same track. The band is comprised of some great Ashvillian musicians and I'm proud to know them and have them as friends. Jesse has supported Studio One since our opening and is a strong advocate and freedom fighter for the local music scene. I'd be happy to have Suddenly Sideways play any time.

What to expect

Suddenly Sideways plays a mix of originals and covers. Their style is a mixture of rock, blues, country, jam, psychedelic and funk.

The band has 2 experienced guitarists that trade lead and rhythm guitar duties as well as 3 different singers who trade lead vocals and share in three part harmonies.

Mary Sparks sings tunes like The Pretenders "Middle Of The Road" with Jesse and Mike taking lead vocals on cover songs like Led Zeppelin's "Down By The Seaside", ZZ Tops "Cheap Sunglasses" or a rocking version of Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff".

Sometimes the band will incorporate Mary Spark's hammered dulcimer playing to create a unique jam atmosphere filled with improvisation and creativity.

Listen to all the bands tunes to get a feel for their sound.
