January 17, 2023Perfect for our Company Dinner
Stephen and his crew were amazing. Total Pros, arriving and setting up on time, followed cues and were completely respectful of our conservative crowd. Most importantly, the music sounded great! I'll book Sticks and Stone Percussion the next opportunity I get. Thanks Fellas!

What to expect
Sticks and Stone will bring you on a fun journey, taking you through a little of *every* style of music via the marimba (also known as the “grand piano of xylophones”) and other percussion instruments. Enjoy upbeat, danceable, melodic music from rich, earth-tone, marimba warmth. Expect to hear music you recognize from instruments you don’t... and also to be challenged with the unfamiliar!
About
Between his time at the University of Alberta and Grant MacEwan, freelance performances and busking, Stephen Stone experimented with percussion ensembles of various types. Three people on one marimba (or, two people on one marimba, with the third person on drum set) was a natural development from this, allowing for enjoyable performances and interactive fun. The group performs for every demographic, from 5 years old to 95, global to local, punk and polite.
In April 2017, the group became a more cohesive concept when it was invited to play for the 2017 Ford World Curling Championship, the Edmonton Motor Show, and the Festival City Winds Ragtime and Riffs concert. Since Covid times in 2020, the the group now frequently includes entirely separate percussion instruments in performance. Most often this sees inclusion of the vibraphone (or "metal piano"), which is more frequently found in jazz.
