About

Stevie Rave On and Second Coming is a Colorado-based tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, built by four seasoned musicians who bring decades of professional stage experience to every performance.

Joe Bear (guitar & vocals) grew up steeped in Motown radio culture in Detroit, picked up the guitar at thirteen inspired by Aerosmith, Queen, and Jeff Beck, and has been performing professionally since age fifteen. He moved to Colorado in 1985 and has since built a reputation as one of the region's most accomplished guitarists and bandleaders. His recording studio, Reaction Vessel, was featured in Mix Magazine (July 2020) and was a finalist in the Studio Design category at the 36th Annual NAMM TEC Awards.

Jimmy Z (bass) cut his teeth in the heavy metal scene of the 1980s — including a stint at the Fillmore West — before co-founding Soul Commitment, a Motown/disco revue that performed across Northern California for over a decade. His influences run deep: McCartney, Entwistle, Jack Bruce.

Buzz Johnson (drums) started playing at age eleven and built his chops across funk, R&B, soul, and jazz over a 20-year career that included performing with the Coast Guard Headquarters big jazz band in Washington, D.C.

Kevin Johnson (keys & saxophone) is a Boulder native with a degree in audio engineering from the University of Colorado Denver. He brings both technical precision and expressive range to the band's sound, serving as the sonic glue that anchors SRO's attack.

Together, these four bring the raw power, technical precision, and emotional depth that defined Stevie Ray Vaughan at his peak — available for outdoor festivals, municipal events, street fairs, and county fairs throughout Colorado and the Intermountain region.

Additional booking notes

Sound / PA: We work with the event's front-of-house PA and an experienced FOH engineer. If your event doesn't have sound covered, we can provide full reinforcement at additional cost — just ask when you reach out.

Monitors: SRO uses in-ear monitors and travels with our own IEM rack, splitters, and tails to house. No stage wedges needed.

Power: Three dedicated 20-amp circuits for backline. Utility or entertainment-grade generator required — household generators aren't adequate for professional audio.

Lighting: Event lighting is welcome but not required. We perform fine in ambient conditions.

Stage: A stable, level surface. If your stage has any unusual features, let us know in advance.

Weather cover: A roof, canopy, or tent over the performance area is required for outdoor events. If this is still being worked out, let's talk early.

Load-in & parking: Vehicle access close to the stage for load-in/out, plus dedicated parking held for the event.

Green room: A private space to prepare and regroup, with restroom access.

Hospitality: Water on or near the stage throughout. A light snack or meal is appreciated for longer events.

Soundcheck: 45–60 minutes before doors open.

If something here doesn't match your setup, reach out before booking — we're good at working through logistics in advance.
