Steven Chelliah

Steven Chelliah, a prized Malaysian export is an award-winning composer and guitarist based in New York City. This talented young man traces his musical heritage back through a long lineage of South Indian court composers and has studied extensively in both Western and Eastern traditions. Thanks to his rich, sophisticated musical background, Steven has developed groundbreaking compositional techniques which utilize all of the Eastern exotic scales within a Western frame-work to open up a whole new world of color and flavor. This fresh new system called FuzAsian can be heard throughout his work.


The FuzAsian concepts have won Steven many accolades at his alma mater Berklee College of Music where he holds a dual degree in Jazz Composition and Contemporary Writing & Production. The culmination of his Berklee years was a concert sponsored by the Professional Writing Division showcasing his compositional work with a 32-piece Jazz Orchestra and Choir.

Steven continues to build upon his strong musical foundations crafting imaginative sonic landscapes as a symphonic orchestral composer and expressing his improvisational and technical prowess as a contemporary fusion and jazz guitarist. These gifts paired with a keen ear for and a consummate knowledge of production skills and techniques make this man a triple threat.
