Standard Alchemy Jazz is cocktail jazz from Montrose, Colorado: swing, Rat Pack classics and the Great American Songbook, played with warmth and a little spark. Led by trumpeter Zan Waller, a 20-year U.S. Army and Navy band veteran, with Berklee-trained guitarist and vocalist Stefan Davenport, we scale from an intimate duo to a trio or full quartet to fit your room and budget. Instrumental, or with male and female vocals. Weddings, corporate events, private parties, restaurants and wine bars across Montrose, Ridgway, Grand Junction and the Western Slope. Catch us Sundays at Chloe's Charcuterie & Wine in Ridgway.

September 21, 2022I’ve heard Mixed Bag play at 2 different events and I LOVE their jam! They play a whole mixture of jazz music, which I LOVE jazz, so it’s always a good experience! Book them for a wedding or anniversary or just for light, live background music…you won’t regret it. The crowd will definitely enjoy!

September 5, 2022I've hired these guys at least eight times....that said, I think that this review holds some credibility. These guys are really great. Zan's trumpet work is really impressive, and backed by Todd on a stand-up bass makes for a cool vibe for sure. I know that they also have other guys as well. When I hired them, they had Lane on the keys which rounded out a cool jazzy vibe. They were perfect for a dim wine bar. You'll love their music.

Swing, Rat Pack, cocktail jazz and Great American Songbook standards, with a few well-chosen pop and bossa tunes that everyone will recognize. We read the room: quiet and elegant for dinner and cocktail hour, more lift when it's time to dance.
Choose a duo (trumpet and guitar/vocals), trio, or full quartet depending on your space and budget. Special requests like a first dance or processional can be arranged with reasonable notice.
Standard Alchemy Jazz is a classy, relaxed group that brings a touch of old-school elegance to any occasion.
Standard Alchemy Jazz
Founded by Zan D. Waller (trumpet), with Stefan Davenport (guitar, vocals).
Zan is a retired military musician who performed in U.S. Army and Navy bands around the world for more than 20 years.
Stefan grew up in a musical household in an artists' community just outside New York City and graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music. He has played rock, R&B, funk, doo-wop and jazz, with a jazz-bluesy guitar voice shaped by Wes Montgomery, Larry Carlton and Robben Ford.
Together we play cocktail jazz inspired by a love of the Great American Songbook, as a duo, trio or quartet. Music that's easy to enjoy, whatever the event.
We need power and cover from any inclement weather that might occur if outside.
Other than that, we have a small "footprint" and fit well in small intimate venues but can also play to larger venues with minimal sound reinforcement.
