In April 2018, Jesse opened for Melissa Etheridge in Denver, CO! Never one to shy away from musical adventures, Jesse's regional and national tours performing Aural Elixir music have led her to work with Grammy award winning engineers like David Glasser at Airshow Mastering, and share stages with truly remarkable musicians like Johnny Vidacovich (Bobby McFerrin, Charlie Hunter), Ryan Elwood, Lynn Drury, Alex McMurray, Carlo Nuccio (Tori Amos, Emmylou Harris), and many more. You can hear Aural Elixir music on popular radio stations across the country (like our fav WWOZ New Orleans!) as well as on internet radio and streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon, and iHeart Radio.
Last year Jesse was commissioned to score a musical for a popular Colorado based production company, and this year she has officially completed that project... her first full length musical! Also in 2017, she produced and released the 6th Aural Elixir CD, a live EP entitled "Better" and she is touring the US sharing her new music while also working on a series of singles to be released this year and next. Music from Aural Elixir's latest release was recently featured on The Best Radio You've Never Heard Podcast, Women Of Substance Radio, & New Orleans' WWOZ!
2018 has seen some exciting new developments too! Jesse founded the Musical Women Show and Social Hour to increase visibility of women in music and strengthen the Colorado community of professional and aspiring female and female identified musicians. She has begun composing her first symphonic piece, due for release next year, entitled "St. Gertrude's Symphony for Cats." She played nearly 100 shows, composed/arranged/performed the music for "Witches and Harlots" an original play presented by Mercury Cafe Denver and Allied Witches Theater, contributed a song to the compilation CD for the Musician's Resistance, and recorded/produced some excellent new live videos. With all the avenues technology provides for music, every day can be a music filled day!
Jesse is currently accepting concert bookings for private and public events, commissions for custom songs, soundtracks, short term or ongoing composition projects, vocal overdubs (lead, background, or multiple parts), music lessons, workshops, songwriting coaching sessions, freelance vocal/piano/keyboard performances and recording sessions. Feel free to contact Jesse with any questions or for a complimentary consultation and estimate
Offbeat magazine describes Aural Elixir's unique sound as "...Joni Mitchell’s sly and perceptive confessional meets Fiona Apple’s confrontational doomed romantic, with little hints of Tori Amos’ gonzo earth mother and Carole King’s practical warmth."
"Sure to brighten your day!" 303 Magazine, Colorado
"Originally formed in New Orleans, the Denver-based Aural Elixir still holds true to the Big Easy’s more sultry jazz traditions." Marquee Magazine
"AURAL ELIXIR - a tonic for the heart. Jesse Maclaine, her piano, and sympathetic musical backing is what makes Aural Elixir a strong offering. "ONE" starts the set and it's a good song. The piano runs, the little twinkling keys. Lyrics that sound great when sung. These aren't typical singer songwriter lyrics but they are affecting poetry and full of imagery - well put together. Her voice dominates " BLURRY " above and beyond her already impressive piano work. A wonderful song, the type of song that's likely to send a chill right up your spine. Over all the music is stripped down, and primitive but within a slightly more accessible song structure."Joint Effort" is a fun song, like the rest of the tunes: repeat playable, certainly." MB, Feed The Band
"These artistic auteurs paint musical pictures both delightfully impressionistic and happily expressionistic." Bunny Matthews - Offbeat Magazine
"This is music from a big kitchen. Aural Elixir's low-key, jazzy folk recalls the Roches attention to vocal textures, speaking half a line then completing it melodically, then fluttering the next thought. ..like sharing jokes and stories on a Thursday night while making dinner and getting drunk on red wine." Alex Rawls - Offbeat Music Magazine
