Hi my name is Allen and I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself.I've been playing the saxophone since 1977. My inspiration? Zoot No not Zoot Sims but Zoot from the Muppet Show!! : ) I saw him on the show with the hat and the sunglasses looking way too cool but most importantly he had a lot of girl muppets all around him loving his music that was all I needed to see!. So the next day I ran into the band room and described a saxophone to the band teacher and told him that I wanted to play that instrument. It was unbeliveable the school had just bought 2 brand new alto saxophones and no one wanted to play them. Man was I blessed, once the music teacher showed me how to assemble the horn, where to place my hands and where and how to blow into it, I played every day for 1 whole hour!! The first day I learned the C scale by the 5th day I could play Mary had a little Lamb and a few other songs! I was a "Natural" that's what the music teacher said. Like a lot of musicians I started playing in church. Then I learned blues, soul, funk, R & B on my own. All while playing Jazz and Classical in school.
Over the years, I've played at various churches as well as a countless number of bands and groups. Playing almost every genre of music you could possibly think of. I compose music, write lyrics and I even write rhymes!! I also sing and play percussion. I am a multi-faceted musician and I absolutely Love what I do!!
