Jimmy Walter is an activist, administrator, educator, and performer based in Greensboro, NC, and outreaches the Piedmont Triad Area. Originally from LaSalle, IL, Jimmy studied under the guidance of Sue Gillio, Owner of Music Suite 408 and Principal Flute of the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra. Jimmy studied at the University of Northern Colorado for his Bachelor of Music-Performance degree where he studied under the guidance of James Hall, World Renowned Solo Artist and Masterclass Artist, and Brook Ferguson, Principal Flute of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and River Oak Chamber Orchestra. Jimmy went on and studied at the University of New Mexico for is Master of Music-Performance and Graduate Certificate-Performance where he studied under the guidance of Valerie Potter, Principal Flute of the New Mexico Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a performer, Jimmy has performed in several ensemble and solo settings. As an ensemble artist, he has performed as Principal Flute of the UNM Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony, Substitute Flute and Piccolo of the New Mexico Philharmonic, Flute and Piccolo for the New Mexico Gay Mens Chorus, and Auxiliary Flute for the University of Northern Colorado Wind Ensemble. As a soloist, he has performed at many events including the IACA Conference, Wedding of the Emeritus CEO of American College of Physicians, and several summer invitationals.
