Southern Gentlemen is Southern Methodist University's oldest and most handsome A Cappella group. Founded in 2009, Southern Gentlemen began singing mostly hymns and religious music, but quickly evolved into a classic college A Cappella group, singing genres ranging from pop to country and R&B. Recently, Southern Gentlemen have performed for the opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Library, sang the national anthem at two Dallas Mavericks games, won the SMU Family Weekend Talent Show two years running, and sang for 70, 000 people at the 2014 Dallas Heart Walk. Southern Gentlemen provide top notch entertainment for birthday parties, corporate events, Christmas parties, and more!

Expect excellence in all experiences with Southern Gentlemen. From the first contact to the closing chord of the final song, Southern Gentlemen will excel in communications, logistics, and most importantly, music. A Southern Gentlemen performance is fun, interactive, and well paced. Expect classics such as "In the Still of the Night" to country with "Wagon Wheel" and a good mix of pop like "Pompeii" by Bastille.
Southern Gentlemen are a mix of undergrad students from Southern Methodist University who share a passion for performing music. Sogents take the stage in the classic uniform; white shirts, khaki pants, brown shoes, and a blue blazer. These men are generally very active on campus and in the community, and are leaders not only in music, but in engineering, business, and more! Southern Gentlemen rehearse twice a week, and can often be spotted pop-up performing in the dining halls of SMU after successful rehearsals. This group really loves to perform, and to be a part of Southern Gentlemen is to commit to the highest quality singing group in DFW.
We typically perform on a stage or designated cleared out area. Whether or not we need amplification depends on the venue. If we request microphones, we typically need 5 or 6, but could make do with as few as 3 if needed. The quality of our blend often increases with the assistance of more microphones.
