What to expect

What You Dreamed of and More!

When you hire Sion Brunson, you're getting more than live music. You're getting an engaging musical experience built around exceptional musicianship, familiar songs, and genuine audience interaction.

An Engaging Performance

The music doesn't stay in one place. Sion can move throughout the crowd, interact with guests, and bring the performance directly to the dance floor. From smooth, soulful melodies to impressive improvisation and high-energy solos, every performance combines musical skill with showmanship.

Music Everyone Knows and Loves

From 70s and 80s classics to today's favorites, the repertoire spans jazz, R&B, soul, funk, pop, soft rock, and classic rock. Whether your guests want to relax, sing along, reminisce, or dance, the music is tailored to create the right atmosphere.

Tailored to Your Occasion

No two events are alike. Sion adapts his song selection, volume, energy, and interaction to the room and the people in it. Whether it's an intimate wine bar, an elegant cocktail reception, a corporate gathering, or a lively private party, the performance complements the occasion. Have special song requests? Let's talk about them!

Professionalism You Can Count On

From the first conversation to the final song, providing an exceptional experience is a priority. You can expect prompt communication, reliability, punctuality, professional presentation, and attention to detail. Sion takes the time to understand your vision, works with you to get the details right, and goes above and beyond to make sure your event receives the attention it deserves.

A Full Musical Experience, Simple Setup

Sion performs as a solo saxophonist accompanied by professionally produced backing tracks. This creates a full, dynamic sound without the space or coordination required for a full band. The compact, flexible setup works in both intimate spaces and larger event areas.

From the music to the atmosphere to the personal attention, Sion Brunson is committed to delivering an experience your guests will remember—what you dreamed of and more!

About

# Sion Brunson

**Live Saxophonist | Weddings • Corporate Events • Private Parties • Galas**

With more than 20 years of experience on the saxophone, Sion Brunson brings a distinctive blend of musical versatility, expressive playing, and engaging stage presence to weddings, corporate events, private celebrations, nonprofit galas, and upscale social events throughout the Southeast and beyond.

Sion’s approach is simple: "the music should enhance the occasion without overwhelming it." His performances blend seamlessly into the atmosphere while remaining engaging enough to draw guests in. He builds his repertoire around familiar songs that invite guests to recognize, sing along, nod their heads, and enjoy the moment—while adding his own musical personality through expressive phrasing, improvisation, and occasional bursts of virtuosic playing.

**Sion’s repertoire spans six decades of popular music, from the 1950s through the 2010s, encompassing a wide range of styles and sounds.** He carefully considers the audience, setting, and occasion when selecting music, allowing each performance to feel intentional, familiar, and appropriate for the event.

But Sion’s performance goes beyond the music. He moves with the energy of the room, interacts naturally with guests, and adjusts his approach based on how the audience responds. Whether he is providing an elegant backdrop for cocktails and dinner or stepping into the celebration to lead a dance floor, his goal is to make the saxophone an integral part of the experience.

That versatility has led to memorable performances ranging from intimate surprise celebrations to high-energy weddings. At one wedding held in a greenhouse, Sion led the wedding party into the reception to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” then opened the reception with “Jubel” as the celebration quickly turned into a dance party. In another memorable moment, Sion surprised a client’s wife on Valentine’s Day by arriving outside their favorite restaurant with his saxophone to perform "their special song". Experiences like these reflect Sion’s willingness to step outside traditional performance settings and create personal, unexpected moments wherever the occasion calls for them.

Sion began studying saxophone at age 11 and was performing professionally by high school. During college, performing became a significant part of his life and livelihood. His musical development has been shaped by accomplished mentors who taught him the importance of versatility, stage presence, and creating a sound that fills a room. He has competed in regional music ensembles, won high school and local talent competitions, received a DownBeat jazz award with his college ensemble, and served as one of the leading saxophonists in the cruise ship band, B.B. King All-Stars at Sea.

For planners and clients, Sion brings more than musical ability. He brings preparation, communication, flexibility, and professionalism. He takes the time to understand the event schedule, venue, theme, audience, and client’s musical preferences, while remaining comfortable adapting when plans change. He arrives early, dresses appropriately for the occasion, stays conscious of volume and the needs of the room, and maintains open communication before, during, and after the event.

Clients have frequently rewarded his attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond with enthusiastic feedback. Whether he’s performing a client’s favorite song, bringing back a song they had forgotten they loved, or creating an unexpected moment with the crowd, Sion approaches every performance with the goal of giving clients "a worry-free experience and more than they expected".

Based in the Southeast and available nationally, Sion Brunson brings a polished, adaptable, and memorable live-music experience to events where the right music can turn a gathering into an occasion.

Influences and inspiration

Musical Influences

My musical style has been shaped by a wide range of influential saxophonists and iconic artists. Growing up, I was inspired by the smooth, expressive sounds of Kenny G, Kirk Whalum, Steve Cole, Marcus Anderson, and David Sanborn, as well as the groundbreaking artistry of John Coltrane and Miles Davis. Artists like Michael Jackson and Prince also had a major influence on my musical development, showing me how powerful rhythm, showmanship, and musical versatility can be.

These influences taught me to see the saxophone as an instrument with endless possibilities. They helped shape my approach to stage presence, improvisation, expression, and the ability to move comfortably between musical genres. I bring those lessons into every performance, blending different styles and influences to create a sound that is expressive, versatile, and engaging.
