Overview

I'm a saxophonist who's played in every setting from living rooms to sold-out stadiums around the world with artists like Thomas Rhett, Musiq Soulchild, PJ Morton (Maroon 5) and Khalil Fong (Hong Kong). I've done countless private events from Mar-a-Lago to Doha, Qatar. It's all about catering to the client. I play several common styles of music and can be booked as a solo saxophonist (with background tracks) or combo/band.

Engage The Crowd More

While my guests & I enjoyed the performance. I wish Frank would have engaged the guests more by walking around instead of staying in one spot. I paid for an hour from 1-2pm and Frank was late & it took about 15 minutes to set up but yet you stopped immediately at 2pm. I would recommend arriving early and start on time or play for an hour after you set up to ensure that customers have a full hour. Lastly, my guests were mostly mature to elderly women & they asked for a business card & you said "you need to come up to the future" & showed your QR Code. I would suggest to be more sensitive when talking to others especially potential future customers. It was unfortunate because many guests were interested in hiring youfor their events. I would recommend when performing to perform as if you're auditioning for the next gig because you really are.

Now Ms. Linda…
1. I did NOT start late. I even had time to casually go to the restroom before my set and we passed each other as you were coming out of the women’s, and we spoke again, REMEMBER? I also had background music playing before my booking time started. Nobody on earth would wait four weeks to mention not receiving something (partially or fully) which they paid for.
2. If you wanted me to walk around, you should’ve communicated that ahead of time, as many of my past clients have done. You hired me to play the saxophone, and that’s what I did. You were wrong to assume what my presentation would be (beyond beautiful saxophone playing and professionalism). Every event is different, every venue is different, every audience is different. Since you and your guests were content sitting, eating, and talking (in a small side room of a restaurant with tables close together) and the vibe did not go in a festive direction, that doesn’t all come down on me. I played PLENTY of upbeat songs with virtually no crowd response. Next time you hire a musician, communicate the specifics about what your vision is for your event. It helps both parties. It was good that you gave me some special requests, but you shouldn’t have stopped there.
3. You completely missed my comment about the business cards. I said I (MYSELF) needed to upgrade to digital cards to be up-to-date (with my counterparts). One may have interpreted it as the other way around, but to say that was my statement is false, insulting and nonsensical.
4. I don’t need your career advice. You’re making assumptions about me. I’M GOOD.

It’s crazy that you woke up four weeks later and just decided you wanted to mess up my perfect rating WITH LIES. I hope you got whatever pleasure you were looking for.

Highly recommend Frank!

Frank is an exceptionally talented saxophone player who truly elevated our event. His sound was smooth, expressive, and perfectly suited for the atmosphere we wanted to create. He has a natural ability to read the room and deliver exactly the right energy at the right time. Many of our guests commented on how incredible he was.

What made it even more impressive was how effortlessly he collaborated with Natalie, the pianist/vocalist—despite never having played together before, they sounded as if they had been performing as a duo for years. Their chemistry was seamless and added something really special to the evening.

I would highly recommend Frank to anyone looking for a top-tier musician.

About

Composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Frank Houston Hayes has gained experience within all major genres of American music, including jazz, pop, country, R&B, rock, gospel and hip-hop, among others. In his developing career, he has been fortunate to work with international award-winning acts, including Ne-Yo, Thomas Rhett, Musiq Soulchild, George Duke, PJ Morton, Khalil Fong and many more.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Frank began playing his primary instrument, the saxophone, in elementary school. In middle school, he was introduced to jazz and quickly developed a deep passion for the genre. During high school, in the marching and symphonic band, he began playing the euphonium, which temporarily became his main instrument.

Frank attended Clark Atlanta University (CAU), where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business management. After nearly a two-year hiatus from the saxophone, Frank decided to join the CAU Jazz Orchestra. It was during this time when he decided to pursue a career in music, and also to pledge Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc. For two consecutive years, he auditioned and was selected from a HBCU-wide audition to be a member of the African-American Jazz Caucus’ HBCU All-star Big Band. The group performed in Toronto at the 35th Annual International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) Conference, the Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival, and the Schomburg Center in Harlem, New York.

Since his college years, Frank has toured nation-wide and recorded with R&B/soul icon, Musiq Soulchild. He has also performed and recorded in Hong Kong with Mandopop superstar, Khalil Fong. Additionally, Frank has had opportunities to perform on nationally-televised shows such as, Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The AMAs (American Music Awards), CMA (Country Music Association) Awards, Soul Train Awards, The Ellen Show, Today Show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Originals, Braxton Family Values, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Married to Medicine. In 2014, Frank learned to play the trombone and has since performed as a trombonist with artists such as Lyfe Jennings, even opening for Pitbull (with A-town A-list) at the 2016 San Luis Salute in Galveston, TX.

A jazz lover at heart, Frank released his first album entitled, “First Hand” in 2016. The instrumental jazz album consists of nine original compositions, featuring some of the most renowned, accomplished and respected Atlanta-based musicians. The album is available on iTunes and all other major digital music outlets.

Frank has since toured internationally with country pop superstar, Thomas Rhett. He is also fortunate to have recorded on Musiq Soulchild’s album, “Feel the Real”, which was nominated “Best R&B Album” for the 2018 Grammy Awards. Currently, Frank is the saxophonist/flautist for Ne-Yo and Akon's "Nights Like This" international tour.

Frank is a Cannonball Saxophones Artist.
