About
In 1971 Michael 'Supe' Granda became a founding member of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Their self-titled debut album produced the Top 30 hit in "If You Want to Get to Heaven." "Chicken Train," the second most requested song in the Daredevils' catalog, has had Supe clucking and squawking to the delight of fans ever since. Their follow up, It'll Shine When It Shines produced a #1 song in "Jackie Blue," still a staple of classic rock radio. The OMD's were inducted into the St. Louis Classic Rock Hall of Fame in 2016.
By the mid-1980s, Supe also had two solo projects The Dog People and Supe & the Sandwiches. Supe is also a member of Springfield, Missouri's The Garbonzos, a merry-making troupe that performs a psychedelic mix of traditional polka, bluegrass, cajun and reggae in nightclubs at parades and by the riverbank!
"Becoming Silly Grandpa was easy," Supe states. "I was always the silly kid who loved silly songs, like "The Purple People Easter," "How Much is That Doggie in the Window?" and "Alley Oop." The sillier the song was, the more I liked it. When my grand kids started to come along, as a songwriter, it was fun to write simple, little songs to entertain them. I just became a silly grandpa."
On Silly Grandpa's debut CD, "Chicken in the Yard,' Supe called on his Nashville Cat Friends that have played with John Fogerty, Poco, June Carter Cash, Bobby Keys, The Derailers and Goose Creek Symphony.
A 3 day romp at Nashville's acclaimed Fry Pharmacy Recording Studio spawned and eleven-song effort sure to tickle children from ages 3-83. ""Most of the songs aren't much over 2-minutes.
Silly Grandpa (aka Supe) says "Playing for kids is a blast. They don't care if you forget a lyric. All they want to do is dance around, clap their hands and act silly - kinda like me."
