Sherrita C W Delacruz is from Greensboro NC. She has utilized poetry and short stories to express and confess the joys and trials of her journey since the age of eight. She testifies of encouragement, love, inclusion, enlightenment, and overcoming adversity in prose, on page, and on stage. Sherrita creates and recites whenever she can to be an inspiration to those within the sound of her voice. She is passionate about giving others opportunities to use poetry to bring out the best in themselves.
As of 2026, Sherrita has been reciting poetry on stage for 26 years. She has delighted audiences as a featured poet and speaker at numerous community events and private engagements in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, and in Georgia. In 2015, she won the Mean 16: Poets VS Rappers competition in Greensboro NC. In 2016, Sherrita was the opening poet for Umar Bin Hassan of The Last Poets at an economic empowerment event in Greensboro NC. She was nominated in 2021 for Poet of the Year by The Featured Highlights Awards and in 2024 by the Onyx Urban Media Group.
Typically I need a microphone with a stand and a music stand or podium to hold my notes.
My set list is custom made per event. I have different poems and presentations to suffice my client's needs. I also will create a commissioned poem or presentation for my client if they desire something more personal.
