With over 20 years experience, Southern California based cellist Sean Stewart is a prolific performer, recording artist, and teacher. He is principal cellist of the Bellflower Symphony Orchestra (Bellflower, CA), assistant principal cellist of the La Mirada Symphony (La Mirada, CA) and Southland Symphony (Ontario, CA), as well as a section cellist for the Whittier Regional Symphony (Whittier, CA) and La Verne Symphony (La Verne, CA). He is also an experienced chamber musician, performing the string quartet works of Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Verdi, Shostakovich, Borodin, Blake, Tchaikovsky, among many others. He frequently performs at weddings and churches with the Serenade Events company. He is a member of the Long Beach based band Darcy Court and the Orange County based cello quartet The OC Cello Quartet, as well as the Long Beach based string quartet 4Tet. He has studied the cello concerto works of Haydn, Lalo, Shostakovich, Elgar, Davidoff, Kabalevsky, and Dvorak. His experience includes recording and performing with contemporary artists throughout Southern California, spanning many genres including Rock, Country, Latin, and Jazz. He is an active lower strings orchestra coach, working with groups such as the Valley Christian High School Orchestra (Cerritos, CA) and the Millikan High School Orchestra (Long Beach, CA). He is a former student of acclaimed cellists Alexander Zhiroff and Manon Robertshaw.
