What to expect
Scottie shares a deeply personal story of survival, resilience, and second chances — from being pronounced dead on arrival after a devastating car accident to relearning how to walk, read, and write. His journey shows how the compassion and persistence of medical professionals can rebuild not just bodies, but lives and futures. Attendees will leave inspired and reminded that their work reaches far beyond treatment — it transforms destinies.
About
Scottie Jefferies understands what it means to lose everything and start over. At 18 years old, while preparing for the 1986 Blue Bonnet Bowl as a freshman football player at Baylor University, his life changed in a single moment. After football practice, he was pronounced dead on arrival following a head-on collision. He survived, but the battle ahead was steep — days in a coma, the loss of his kneecap, shattered ankle and heel bones, and waking up with the mind of an eight-year-old. He had to learn how to walk, read, and write all over again.
Those years taught him some hard truths about choices, pride, and resilience. A small-town physician’s compassion became a turning point that shaped the rest of his life. From there, Scottie rebuilt piece by piece — creating a 20-year career in film and television (Friday Night Lights, The Good Guys, Machete), generating over $100 million in business revenue, and going back to school at 52 to earn a Master of Jurisprudence in Energy, Oil, and Gas Law from Texas A&M School of Law.
To Scottie, perfection isn’t about the scoreboard, the paycheck, or the accolades. It’s about showing up when life tries to break you, fighting for second chances, and choosing purpose over pride. His story proves that no matter how far you fall, you can rise again and become the best version of yourself.

Influences and inspiration
Influences
The people and experiences that shaped me come from every part of my life — the field, the boardroom, the operating room, and my own family. Each taught me lessons I couldn’t have learned alone and continues to guide me as I work to become a better version of myself.
As an actor, Deke Anderson helped me rebuild a life after football when I felt lost, teaching me to keep reaching higher. Coach John Ferrera instilled accountability and discipline, qualities that carried me through recovery. Dr. Ty Goletz did more than help me walk again — his belief in what was possible helped me believe in myself.
The oil and gas industry taught me resilience and perseverance, lessons I saw lived out every day in my father, Scottie L. Jefferies, whose faith, work ethic, and integrity set the standard I strive to follow.
Each of these influences shaped not just who I am, but who I’m still becoming. They remind me that with purpose, perseverance, and the right people beside you, you can always rise again.
