About

Erika Andres is an active flute performer in the Savannah area. She is available to play for weddings and other special events either as a soloist or with her flute and cello ensemble, Silver & Strings.

Erika has played both flute and piccolo in many orchestras, bands, and chamber ensembles. She is a flute substitute for the Florence Symphony Orchestra and is a co-founding member of the Silver & Strings ensemble for flute and cello. Additionally, she has given many recitals, played as the soloist on the performance of her own band transcription of a concerto, participated in masterclasses of prestigious flutists like Marina Piccinini, Nestor Torres, Gergely Ittzés, Walfrid Kujala, and Stephen Preston and performed at several flute conventions, including ones for the National Flute Association and the Florida Flute Association. She is a great proponent of new music, being a performing member of the Flute New Music Consortium and a finalist for their first Flute Artist Competition. And as a Baroque flute player, she is also an advocate for historically informed performances of early music on the instruments for which they were intended and is a member of the Savannah Baroque.

Erika holds a Master of Music degree in flute performance from Florida State University where she studied flute with Eva Amsler and a Bachelor of Arts degree in flute performance and music composition from Armstrong State University where she studied flute with Lorraine Jones and composition with Randall Reese.

Additional booking notes

Flute is a very low maintenance instrument, as is cello if the Silver & Strings ensemble is used. All that is required is a few feet of space to play and a chair or two if cello is present.
