Satin & Swing is a duo act specializing in cabaret-style entertainment. Performing popular songs from the 1920s into the 1960s eras, Satin & Swing combines the jazzy, swinging, virtuosic piano stylings of Jim Hodgkinson with the dynamic vocals of Amy Newman. Together Jim and Amy are Satin & Swing.
Thank you to Amy and Jim - SATIN & SWING! Truly an enjoyable performance for our senior community that brought back all those past memories in such an entertaining way.

Response from Satin & Swing:
Thank you so much for this lovely review, Leah. It was a delight to perform for you all on Valentine's Day.
Satin & Swing are a very talented and professional duo. They engage the audience with interesting songs, not just sing along but songs you haven’t heart for a long time and they combine them with interesting piano accompaniments. Some dance numbers are also incorporated into the performance which the audience loves to see. I would recommend Satin & Swing for your entertainment needs. You won’t be disappointed.
Response from Satin & Swing:

What to Expect
Clients can expect professionalism and integrity when dealing with Satin & Swing. This duo will be punctual, friendly and flexible at any engagement where they are hired to entertain.
Audiences can expect a dynamic musical experience unique in its ability to appeal to many age groups. For older audiences, they will be transported back in time, hearing the popular songs they remember from their past. For younger audiences, they will experience (perhaps for the first time) beautiful melodies and exciting arrangements which bring a current feel to the classic repertoire performed by Satin & Swing.
Satin & Swing definitely brings the feeling of a show to its clients. While the duo is happy to be hired as ambiance for an event, the musical selections and banter (along with the sound system) are best suited to events where the client wishes to offer an audience/show experience for its patrons/guests, etc.
Satin & Swing will perform their material as a 55-minute mini-show for any occasion, though they are particularly suited to special events held on New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day. As the profile photographs show, they are dressed in upscale attire to bring an air of elegance and style to every function where they entertain.
Satin & Swing will bring the musical past back to you, with dynamic arrangements of tunes such as "Chattanooga Choo Choo" (a hit for the Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1941), "Peel Me a Grape" (by David Frishberg, 1962 and a more recent hit for Diana Krall), "What'll I Do" (by Irving Berlin, 1923, made famous as the musical theme from the award-winning score for the 1974 film version of "The Great Gatsby"), "Get Happy" (sung by Judy Garland in 1950), and "The Telephone Song" (a hit for Astrud Gilberto in 1964) to name a few. They will also take you to Broadway with songs such as "Try to Remember" (from the enduring hit musical, "The Fantasticks") and "Cabaret" (from the legendary musical of the same name).
Satin & Swing's pianist extraordinaire, Jim Hodgkinson, has been a professional musician since the age of 15, so he has done literally thousands of gigs over the last 30 years. He has played jazz gigs, musical theatre shows, classical, lounge –you name it and Jim Hodgkinson has probably performed it. He joins Amy on some of the vocals. Amy Newman has been on stage since the age of 5, so she brings a wealth of experience to her work as a singer, actor, tapper and historical theatre producer. She is comfortable performing repertoire ranging from musical theatre to jazz to folk to cabaret style.
Additional Booking Notes
Satin & Swing brings a small, portable sound system to all locations/venues where they are hired to perform. An acoustic piano is a wonderful choice and preferred for the show; however, an electric keyboard can be brought in if no keyboard is available on the premises. All cables and cords are provided by Satin & Swing, though it will be necessary to have electric outlets nearby for the sound system (mics, speakers, mixer). If the venue has any lighting instruments, these would be beneficial to use for assisting with the creating of mood during the performance.
Here is a selection of tunes performed by Satin & Swing:
Peel Me a Grape
What'll I Do
The Telephone Song
One For My Baby
Try to Remember
In the Mood
Up a Lazy River
Chattanooga Choo Choo
When I Take My Sugar to Tea
The Way You Look Tonight
You're the Top

|Amy Lee Newman||vocalist/performer|
It is wonderful if an acoustic piano is available for Satin & Swing. However, an electric keyboard can be provided by Satin & Swing with adequate notification.
