Ho, Ho, Ho!
Generally I offer all sorts of visits but this year is so very challenging!
I am open to discussing safer options, but this season will be extremely difficult.
My most common visit is a two hour party or business event, having dozens, even hundreds of people, kids and adults on my lap. This year that is not safe.
I would love to be able to do “porch visits” or a quick “pop by” but the logistics of this kind of visit don’t make sense. Even with magic the travel makes quick stops a problem.
I am open to your ideas but there will be many fewer visits this year.

December 14, 2022Every year, Santa Mike is a hit! He’s been coming to our annual Christmas party for the past 7 years (minus Covid of course). He’s always great with the kids, even this year when they were rowdy and a little crazy since some are getting older now. Haha. He’s calm and patient still! Thanks Santa Mike for a wonderful time.

Just a few notes to help make things go smoothly.
Cookies: Santa enjoys a cookie! Mrs Claus is concerned about my blood-sugar, but heck it’s Christmas! The thing is that with a beard (and gloves) things like cupcakes that have frosting can be problematic, so if you could keep that in mind. I will not turn them down, as it is all about participation with the children, but small non frosted cookies are best for me. And water is easier than milk.
Scared kids: It happens, I’m pretty good with them but every once in a while one just will not willingly sit on my lap, or sometimes even come close to me. There are a few things we can do that usually work. First, I am happy to get down to their level. Often just that is enough to breakdown the nervous walls, if that is not enough I have been known to casually sneak up behind a kid to get a picture opportunity if that is what it takes. And while I don’t know your kid, I am pretty willing to assert myself to get you a decent picture. Please do not hesitate to warn me off if you think I am freaking your little one out too much. It’s rare, but I do not want my visit to be a bad experience for anyone.
For some kids it is most successful for a parent to hold them and then the parent to sit on my lap. This works great and leads me to...
People sitting on my lap: YOU WILL NOT HURT ME! I have often had really big folks sitting on my lap, and I mean BIG! The only times I have been in any discomfort have been the rare overly bony butts. Sorry but it’s true. Don’t worry. You will not hurt me. Just sit naturally. Do not squat or lean. Just sit. If you don’t relax it will show in the pictures. It really is ok.
Pets: I love dogs! I like Cats, and most other critters. I’m willing to go at least as far as tarantulas, but maybe not scorpions. Hey, if they are part of your family I am probably good with them.
I try to keep the magic real, it helps if I can come and go without eyes on me. The reindeer and sleigh are invisible while I’m not with them but it helps to not have peeking for my coming and going.
