Santa Claus by Greg

Sometimes event organizers ask me to simply mix and mingle with guests. More typically, I arrive at a home or event venue with genuine sleigh bells jingling, a jolly "ho, ho, ho," and a sack slung over my back! Gifts may be strategically placed in advance for my retrieval, or I can pass out gifts from under the tree. In group settings, I eagerly greet one and all. I begin to circulate and speak to each person - little ones and oldsters first, of course. I offer each a candy cane. We sing familiar Christmas carols, some of which are interactive. We play a simple game or two. I tell silly jokes and ask funny riddles. The children gather around and I read a story - "The Night Before Christmas" or other story from my collection. We make time for photos. Finally, if it is wished, I will hand out gifts, with your help with names. (I'm old, you know... I have trouble remembering so many folks, the world round.) As I depart, I merrily wish one and all a "Very Merry Christmas!"

I have happily appeared as Santa Greg since 2009, first in the Rochester, NY area, and now in sunny Central Florida. I have enjoyed bringing a touch of the North Pole, Christmas Spirit, and holiday celebration to family homes, Sunday brunches with Santa, office holiday celebrations, apartment complex parties, volunteer recognition with not-for-profit groups, and small business marketing events. More recently, Mrs Claus has delegated many of her North Pole activities, and enjoys joining me at events! Photo shoots with professional photographers have also been a joy to take part in. I delight in bringing smiles to the faces of folks who live at health care facilities. It's been great fun, too, reading to rapt little ones during public library story hours. Do you have pets? Santa enjoys photo events for our fur friends too. Please inquire if you would like a visit from Mrs. Claus in addition to good ol' Santa!

Prior to appearing as Santa, in a former adult life, I was a teacher and a rehabilitation counselor, working with special needs children as well as adults. On a more informal basis, I've known the joy of teaching woodworking to girls and boys between ages 6 and 14.

Further, I have enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School settings.
