Suzanna

From folkloric inspirations of the Middle East to the boundless poetry of modern belly dance, Suzanna is an experienced and authentic entertainer with breathtaking movement quality, aesthetics, and versatility who genuinely connects with her audience and transforms gatherings into magnificent soirees. In addition, as an artistic director she can arrange performances with multiple artists and advise and support on technical logistics.

Suzanna is an acclaimed performer and artistic director with a global outlook. In addition to her signature style of Balady, she performs, choreographs, and teaches a spectrum of other Middle Eastern dance styles, including Raqs Sharqi, Saidi, Khaleegy, Shamadan, and variations with zills, veil, and sword. She has extensive multidisciplinary training in ballet, contemporary, West African and other world dances, and a professional background in theatre. Her more than 15 years with Arabic dance has included multiple travels to Egypt and beyond for intensive study, a decade of about 1,000 performances – many with professional live musicians, more than 60 shows under her direction, a King County Touring Arts Roster Award, and 9 years of teaching. With consistent focus on core technique, she has founded Raqkout, a workout series for dancers and fitness seekers.

Suzanna’s students are as diverse as the world she has traveled and she takes great joy in witnessing them flourish according to their unique goals, empowering them to develop their own signature style and manifest what they learn universally across any dance or movement activity.
