Hiromi saves the day!

We had the good fortune to meet Hiromi at the recent gr818ers AFA festival in Canoga Park. Connectopod had a booth to share our youth podcast programming. Our facepaint artist had to leave unexpectedly. She left her supplies for us to use, but alas we didn't have the skills. We met Hiromi when she asked if she could paint her son's face with our supplies. Of course, said we. She did an amazing tiger face! She soon had a line of eager kids. Hiromi stayed for hours painting everything from Spiderman to beautiful florals with gems and glitter. In addition to her obvious talent, the best part was her gentle vibrancy. Our booth was all smiles and laughs. We were able to engage with the youth as they waited their turn, just talking about issues, and things that make them laugh, and of course what they wanted Hiromi to paint! We even had a few sign up for our programs. We are so grateful to Hiromi and look forward to working with her again soon.

About

I’m Romi. Fifteen years ago in Japan, while establishing myself as an international shoe designer, I moved to Los Angeles. Although I faced various challenges, I was fortunate to build a warm and loving family here. Now, I am pursuing a degree in Interior Design at a community college while also teaching Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement. Between raising my 6-year-old son, wearing kimono, and DJing, I enjoy embracing both Southern Californian and Japanese cultures, which fuel my growing passion for creative activities.

The photo above is from the first time I did face painting. I was waiting in line with my son when we learned that the artist had to step away. I offered to give it a try, and they welcomed me as a volunteer. I ended up painting around 10 kids that day. It was so much fun that I started practicing, and now I run it as a business.

I’m passionate about face painting and will make sure your guests leave with a smile! My partner, Q, also offers live portraits to add a unique touch to your event.
