Overview

RoCk the Joint has been around the Dodge county and Madison areas for 10 years. I produce shows as you would see in Nashville, TN. I spent quite a bit of time learning from KJ’s from Music City USA. I strive to provide the best karaoke services that I possibly can to ensure everyone has a wonderful time. It’s not about how great the voice, it’s about the memories and connections you make along the way.

I also do not have any videos uploaded here as 95% of the videos I were to upload, would flag for "Copyright Infringement" despite owning the rights to the Karaoke music for Business and Entertainment purposes. Unfortunately this site also only accepts Youtube URL links for videos.

So Much Fun!!

We had such a great time with Dean! He worked a crowd of singers from 4-95 years old and kept the night moving and so, so much fun. We heard K-Pop, Metallica, and "You Are My Sunshine." He was on time, brought all needed equipment, a great catalog of music and truly seemed happy to be sharing the night with us. Thank you, Dean!

Professional. Fun. Responsive.

Working with Dean was really easy. He was very responsive and worked with us to customize the experience for our event. He showed up early for set up, was professional, and created a really fun experience for our group of over 100. We highly recommend Dean, and will be hiring him again in the future!

What to expect

I like to keep every show unique and entertaining. This is achieved by listening to my clientele. I use their diverse requests from the songs they request to both sing, and listen to, as well as reading the room, to curate on-the-spot playlists in the background between karaoke singers, as well as to edit and keep my DJ playlists fresh and Unique on non-Karaoke events and venues. I keep my Karaoke shows fair to everyone by instituting a reasonable strict rotation schedule with singers. This means that when a new singer comes into rotation, they get to sing by the end of the current singer rotation, rather than having to wait for the person singing when they turn in their song, to sing again before they get to sing their first song. I also don't take singers out of the rotation unless they tell me they are done for the night or leaving, this keeps their opportunity to sing, just like everyone else, and also prevents extra waits for shyer singers who want to sing, but aren't always in a rush to get their next song to me.
I am also very familiar with setting up Theme nights to keep the energy going from week to week on my regular venues for Karaoke. This gives the audience and singers a chance to challenge themselves both in what they wear, as well as what they choose to sing. This also converts to DJ events with specific themes with Genres, generational shows, etc. Whether I am DJing or Hosting a Karaoke show, my events are not solely focused on the singers or the dancers, I try to keep the entire atmosphere included. This means also engaging with the crowd, walking around and asking non-singers for suggestions or requests for background music, or songs to play between singer rotations (this is also great times to update my singer rosters, and add songs to singers playlists, etc), but most importantly it keeps the entire crowds attention and shows that everyone at the show is as important as the singers.

About

RoCk the Joint has been around for just over 12 years in the Central Wisconsin area. Originating with Jason Stofflet in the Dodge County area.
The RoCk the Joint legacy was passed down at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as Jason retired from RTJ. Dean Winchester, his predecessor, has re-established services in the Dodge County area since 2021.
I started my Karaoke Career as a patron of Jason's shows, back in Madison, WI, as a newly 21 year old bar fly. I made a plan to stop out every week that I could, as I was hooked from my first show. I was in Choir all my life, but always blended into the chorus and never had the confidence level to sing solo in front of any crowd. Karaoke changed that and quickly became my routine “stress-free” environment, an "outlet," some would say. It was after about 5 years that I realized I had not missed more then 15-20 of his weely Karaoke shows. Once Covid-19 shut everything down, Jason had approached me with a shocking offer. Over those 5 years, and many nights studying how he ran his equipment and his shows, it became clear to Jason, that I was the only person he could see to carry on the “RoCk the Joint” Legacy. It truly makes me believe the philosophy, "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in you life."
~Dean Winchester~

Additional booking notes

Each show is unique it its own way. The acoustics of a venue always differ, the lighting is always unique to the architecture and ambiance, however the equipment is usually always the same. I like to use the venue and their set ups to help compliment my shows/events. This usually does require some technical information. With your event, it helps a lot to know how many outlets work and how many that I could have access to. It also helps when setting up at a venue, to be placed/set up in a very central area. For example, for Weddings, setting up along a back wall is preferable especially where I can set up in the middle of the wall directly centered among the dance floor to better equally distribute the sound.
Outdoor venues and events work best if there is cover supplied near an outlet that sits at least 7-10ft tall. This interferes less with speaker and lighting heights. We want the sound to be clear and travel as far and equally as possible, as well as lighting to cover as much area as possible.

Always ask any questions regarding set up, and I will do my best to assist for the best possible quality outcome!

Influences and inspiration

The previous Owner of RoCk the Joint (Pre-Covid) had a lot of influence on how I run my events/shows. Both him and I spent time in Nashville, TN studying how they run their shows so efficiently for karaoke. If anyone has their efficiency maximized, it would be Music City, USA. We also spent extensive time between county and state fairs watching DJs at festivals, clubs, and other events to filter out Do's and Don'ts on DJing and Karaoke shows. The previous owner had 12 years of experience in this, and I currently have about 9-10 years of that same experience both before and during my time Owning RoCk the Joint.
