RILA Studio Live Art and Illustration

If a client hires me, they have myself and depending on the size of the event, two additional assistants who help me ensure the most amount of artwork is completed on site. For live guest illustration, my assistant takes photos of guests and we paint full body illustrations of the guests in a gestural fashion, where each couple typically takes 8-9 minutes to complete. The client and guests can expect an interactive art experience, where they are free to talk with us about the process and watch us create live during the event. We are typically at an event 4-5 hours, and the guests are free to take their artwork either during the event or once the event is over. Each artwork is handpainted on 5” x 7” coldpress watercolor paper and inserted inside a plastic sleeve. There is a collaborative process between the client and myself prior to the event, to ensure any special guests are painted and to see what additional artwork they would like post-event. I typically finish guest artwork in the studio and mailed to the client and I provide a studio painting of their choice as well if they are interested.
For live canvas painting, the process involves collaboration between myself and the client, where we decide what and whom I will be painting on-site and what the timeline will look like. I will paint on a large canvas on my easel on-site and in most cases, finish the painting in the studio unless the client requests completion during the event. With both live painting and live illustration, I present myself professionally and warm, allowing guests into the creative process and inspiring others about art.
